Rosin press with custom press machine

So ive recently went out and spent the money to try this new way of making wax. Im used to running bho in a sealed system and purging for a week straight. So i figured hell why not try and save some valuable time.

Press was 160 harbor freight
3x5 plates 200 on Amazon
3x5 160 micron bags 50 Amazon

This creates a whole new type of wax that is unbelievably pure. Take a dab of this and it wont feel like someone has your lungs in a vice.

I dont have a pressure gauge and im lucky to have a infrared temperature laser sensor. Temperatures are typically stated to stay around 2 hundo. Pressures are stated to stay around 2500 psi. Time says to press from 2 to 3 minutes.

Well this is a good start to things. From there you kinda just have to play with it to see what works best for you. Now my temps. In the pics state 315 or 318. Thats correct because the plates surface temps wouldnt reach 200 without raising the temps to 315.

My pressures im facked. I have no idea but all my bags have blow outs and i dont get good runny waxola if i dont press super hard. So i still have some figuring to do my self.

As far a press time goes. I tried not to exceed 5 minutes with the process. Slowly working my way to the desired pressure and leaving at the desired pressure for the desired times. So, pressing slowly to desired pressure. Then starting the timer once recieved desired pressure. 2 munutes of slowly working your way up leaving pressed for 3 minutes.

The squash you see below is 8 grams of dry herb ganga outdo cracka. I yielded 1.4 grams. Thats 17-18% return. Not impressive if you ask me. but it smokes like none other and a super high. Ive been trying to stand my bags up rather than laying them flat. Ive noticed a slight increase. But not 100 yet.

I encourage any feedback. As im still learning myself. But cant seem to find much of explanations if smashing dry herb.

Welcome to the world of rosin! Blowouts are usually from misaligned plates which is why you see the caged plates setups. They help prevent any lateral movement between the plates. Your on the right track with your numbers. The harder you can squish the better you'll be. 17-18% is not a terrible return. It's very strain dependant.
