RQS Hulkberry Auto And Royal Haze Auto Round 2

Watered and fed this tent yesterday. Two of the three plants are in flower. One of the royal haze plants and the hulkberry are both throwing pistils. The second royal haze hasn't started yet but I think it'll flower some time this week.
I did a bit more training a touch of leaf removal but otherwise we're waiting on the flowers here.
@Trala don't come for me! I watered AFTER the pictures lmao

Royal haze v2.1

Royal haze v2.2

Hulkberry V2.1

And then the tent status for the week. All in all still good.

Thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

I haven't really kept up with this journal mostly because no one really seems to be interested, or maybe no one is interested because I don't keep up with it? IDK a real "chicken or the egg" situation over here but I digress...
The plants are doing ok. Royal haze v2.1 is the clear winner so far moving through flower well. Royal haze v2.2 now has a shelf life, if it doesn't throw pistils in the next two weeks its out. I'm tired of looking at its sick ass, if it isn't giving me the goods its going out the door.
Hulkberry is growing, but its acting like a Granddaddy purple auto I grew out before, looking like a totally ruderalis plant, with long internode spacing and terrible bud structure, it continues only for my amusement. Plant pictures available on request.
Tent status for last week was good though:

Thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

Hey buddy glad the plants are starting to flower.

Just a little thought I had reading through your journal is your daytime temps seem awfully low and even lower at night. I've experienced this before and it caused weird brown spots like your one plant has shown as well as stunted and odd/slow growing plants.

I see you have a heat mat under the pots, is it on a temp controller?

Also I've found the low temps can really limit the soil water absorption and keep the lower soil wetter longer. I wouldn't worry about the top drying before the bottom, I've never had a soil pot that dries evenly all the way through.

As these girls flower and buds form you'll want to bring down that humidity down into the 50's if possible to help keep mold and fungus from taking hold.

Edit: I just realized you have a ton of journals completed so I'm figuring you know all this stuff lol sorry I thought I was on a different members journal.

no worries at all. yeah my temps have been hard to manage, this grow is in an unfinished basement in the northeast. I think I need to put the light's ballast back into the tent for a few extra degrees, I have another tent with a different grow going on that has the same power light but is consistently 5-7 degrees warmer and I'm pretty sure its because that light has the ballast in the tent with it. The heat mat is on, but its not on a thermostat its some cheapo one from amazon

this is now a one plant grow.
I was in the tent today getting ready to water and I was looking at the plants, the sickly royal haze and the hulkberry to be precise. The Hulkberry had started to display extremely ruderalis growing traits. This is a problem I've had a couple of times now with auto flower seeds from Royal Queen Seeds. My next grow will be seeds from a different supplier so I'm curious if I get any ruderalis plants from those seeds. Anyway...I decided to get rid of that plant because I already had a granddaddy purple plant grow out that way and it was basically a waste. I washed it for bubble hash, but this plant isn't even half the size that one was. It wouldn't be worth it.
The second royal haze I have still in the tent but i wont be updating about it, it will get plain water until it flowers or dies.
So the plant that is still in the tent is doing well. I did a bit more training on it to open it up some more and let it take advantage of the new found space. I think I need to defoliate but I'm resisting the urge.

Thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

Hello there :)

She doesn’t look like she’s big smiling to me. She looks like she’s too wet and hungry at the same time.

Have you got your nutes dialed in right?
👋 I think so? I'm following the fox farms feeding schedule with their big three (big bloom, grow big, and tiger bloom) I'm feeding the third week of flower according to their schedule 3tsp of big bloom, 2 tsp of grow big, and 1 tsp of tiger bloom, with an additional 1 tsp of calMag. They get fed once a week and then plain water once a week, usually on two to three day intervals. This is how I've always done it, but I'm thinking there may have always been room for improvement. Idk, I want to get through this grow and be done with dirt for a while.

Hello you :)

For me (now you need to imagine lol) if the leaves were a little heads, I like their green heads to be up, not hanging down.

She looks a bit sad. Might just be thirst.

While she’s improved, I’m not sure you have your nutes perfectly dialed in. For me I absolutely struggled with weed Nutes, the extras I mean. I had one product which was recommended to me by a great grower in here, and the Bloom component absolutely burned the fuck out of my plants. I really do think a lot of these extra products cause more harm than good.

That said she looks okay and I think you’ll get good results. Each grow teaches us so much.

Thanks! Yeah I haven't really tried any of the extras. The only supplement I use is calMag, but that being said I think there are a few different fox farms feeding charts out there and popular consensus seems to say that even the official chart is off, but at this point this will be my last fox farms grow for a while so I'm not going to bother sorting out the issues with their chart unless I come back to their nutrients lineup

I really think weed growers get conned with nutes.

A lot of these companies are no better than a charlatan selling snake oil. They come up with real buzz names too in order to get the growers attention eg Root Roidz, THC Roidz, Bio Diesel, GroHard Bud Juice. For the most part, it’s just clever marketing.

When I first joined I spent $100’s on shit I didn’t need. I even bought a pH pen lol! Then I realised, I’m a gardener. I can grow plants. Weed is just a plant lol. Since then I keep it so simple and I grow okay ;)

Fed and watered this plant today, but I changed things up a bit. I have another tent with a grow running along side this one and that tent is a hempy grow. I end up with a lot of nutrient rich water that I just throw away from that grow so I thought what if I give the run off/out put of those waterings to this plant. They are all around the same stage of life so nutrient mixes should be close to what both tents need. I left the runoff out over night last night and tested the ph this morning, its was right in the 6.2-6.3 range so thats what this plant got watered with. I'm curious to see how it takes it. The nutrients I use in the hempy grow are not fox farms so I am wondering if the different nutes will help the plant along.

Tent status for the week has been good as well.

I had a thought regarding the other royal haze as well. I'm starting to think its not an auto. Its still growing at a good rate, but is showing no signs of flower. the plant is like 8 weeks old. It should be flowering by now even if it was stunted. So I am thinking that I will move the flowering plant into my hempy tent and turn the lights in this tent to 12/12 to see if the other plant flowers. If it does. I'll have a monster on my hands.

Thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

I left this plant alone for like a week, and just threw some tap water at it every one in a while and now it looks way better.

Its too early to tell anything from the 12/12 flip but I think it looks better over all. The temps are also a bit better inside the tent now that I have moved the ballast back into the tent. They are hovering in the low to mid 70s now.

That's all I have for this plant, thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

fed and watered Royal haze V 2.1 today, she's looking good and I'm starting to see the first signs of a natural fade at the bottom of the plant starting to happen. This plant is into its 10th week from seed so I'll be starting to look at trichs in two weeks or so. She has a bunch of bud sites and the buds are starting to get fatter. A few of the pistils seem to be starting to turn orange as well. She's not as frosty as either of the do-si-dos plants she's sharing the tent with but she'll get there, I hope at least. The last royal haze plant I got through to harvest gave me some good bud so I'm hoping this one does the same.

Royal haze V2.2 is about four days into 12/12 and will get fed when lights come on in a few hours. When I opened the tent to check on it yesterday it was praying...I'm really starting to think this is a phot, which is going to mess my crop rotation up pretty bad, hopefully it buds out enough to make it worth it.

That's all for this update, thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:

Big photo dump of an update. This plant is still flowering, still looks like mostly clear trichs, maybe a few cloudy, but nothing amber yet.

The other plant is still in 12/12. It's absolutely a photoperiod. I dont have any pistils yet but the plant is stretching and putting out new leaves so now we get to figure out how to deal with this. I'll grab pictures when the light goes on

Thanks for hanging out! Cheers! :roorrip:
