RVgrowers 1st Stealth Grow of Afghan Kush Ryder and Kannabia Special

Okay, thanks so much for that input HR, I really appreciate that! Also, when you say REAL watts, on a CFL, you mean like the 55 watts I have in each of my bulbs, meaning I have a total of 220 watts, not " the equivalent of 800 watts", correct?

Cool, that only leaves the problem of getting more bulbs in there now! lol! Any ideas on how to do that? lol, oh well, this is what I love about growing, it's a beautiful day everyday you wake up to them, they teach you something new everyday, and the whole affair makes you smarter and more creative, having to figure these things out, but it's SO cool to have the help I get here! I would have to go out and GUESS which book to buy, or make the mistake of talking to the wrong person, or getting really BAD advice from a tool who don't know crap... No, that would suck.....

Thanks again for everything, HR, and all the rest of you guys who are stopping' by to drop a line....

One thing on that subject! Why is it that I only see some responses only in an email reply to me, but not up here in the thread? I have missed so many responses because I don't go into my email that often, only once a week or so, but I get on here multiple times daily looking for responses and reading journals, etc...but I don't ever see those responses here. Does anyone know why that is happening to me? I feel bad, because I like to respond with at least a "thanks!" to those who take the time to stop by to offer their advice and help, that's really important to me! Do I have some setting off that I don't know about? I just don't get that one...

Anyhow, thanks! to all who stopped by to give some advice, I really DO appreciate it! And I am so sorry I never before realized I was missing some responses that way!
Much love and green happiness to all!

To get more bulbs in, use Y-Connectors that are available at any hardware or home store. They allow you to put two bulbs in a single socket. Plus, you can attach one Y-Connector to a single socket, then put two Y-Connectors in the first Y and get four bulbs in a single socket.

Thanks Mr. Krip! It's nice of you to stop by and lend a helping word again!
Yeah, I got the "Y" connectors just yesterday morning, although I never would have thought about putting them together like that, but it's nice to know that you can do that if you feel you need to...But I hear ya, and I have plenty of ability to move that rod the lights on up and down about 3 1/2 ft. or so above it's current height, and I can move the lights down closer to the plants with the rod staying in place to a certain degree, limited by the length of the light cords, which are not too long, really, but am using a power strip for all the lights, and timers too, of course. So I think I might be able to get another rod, and have it on a parallel plane sort of, but maybe lower it down so I can have some of these lights on the side/s of the plants as they get bigger....

.hhhmmmm....something to think on....I'm sure I will develop a plan when it's time, everything else on this grow seems to be happening like that.

I am very very seriously considering building myself a reflector "dish", but more flattened, like a panel with curved down edges, like the kind you pay a hundred bucks or so for...I can see those parts are worth more than $10-$15 at the hardware store I think...I'm still developing that design in my head....might have to start drawing it, get the measurements, etc...

Thanks for the idea bro!

Hemp nailed it. those cheap led's suck for air. to get any real benefit u gotta' spend big bucks on 'em. eventually the price will come down but for now, nope. also about the "real watts". in the future u might want to think about a HPS. HTG supply has a couple of 150watt hps set ups that only cost about $70 & the one w/separate ballast is the one my neighbor uses. she uses a bare bulb in 2sq. ft. it's the only light she has & she has fantastic grows. she has MS & uses alotta' mmj. she's growing dr. greenthumb's iranian autoflower i think & even w/the small set-up still gets about 5/6 oz's per 90 day grow.....yeah, i didn't believe it either till i saw it. she uses the tiniest ebb & flow set-up i've ever seen...all homemade. just a thought for future reference.

Wow! Thanks SO MUCH Mr. K!
I read thru both of those, and their attached journals, AND the journals of OTHER people that had helped him with his grow in any way...SO I just lost about 3 hrs of my life doing that, but I learned SO MUCH!!! I FREAKIN 'LOVE THIS SITE!!!!!:goof:

Anyways, tomorrow Am when she gets home from work, the wife and I are headed to a big like, Goodwill-kinda store, called "Habitat for Humanity" store....and it's mostly for building materials surplus, remodeling surplus, and just about anything you'd find in a house, it's here....they have people donate their used appliances when they get new ones...they get donated furniture, clothes, housewares, just everything you can think of, but just mostly geared for the home-owners around here & the contractors/ handymen, for all of us to find special goodies, like things like scrap wood, stove pipe, totes, plant pots, maybe even lights and light reflector hoods, you really never know what they will have on any given day....it's always coming in everyday, so it all changes everyday......
Guess where these grandmas are going after my wife gets home from work in the AM??? TO "HABITAT FOR HUMANITY" STORE....besides, the profits from the store really DO go to the "Habitat for Humanity" project here in our area......
I can HARDLY wait!!!

:eek:fftopic:
Sorry you all had not heard from me nor been able to see the latest pics, but I had a personal, family emergency yesterday...a bad one, I had to have my Rottie put down...So I am a bit spun, but I know you all understand. There's nothing better I think I can do for myself than to just keep my mind on my grow...So I am going to do that, keep busy, and work on what I can...my plants. And on that note...
:focus:
I do have great news from my nursery and I can't WAIT for you all to see the newest pics!!! They are all doing fantastic, growing so fast, have their second set of leaves in and the first are getting fatter. I don't see the growth rate myself, looking at them like 10-20 times a day. But when I just went back and looked at the pics from just 5 days ago, I was BLOWN AWAY by the difference in the two pics! I wish I was decent with computer skills like my buddy, Mr. Krip! He made some side by side pics in his grow that were awesome to see side by side...I wish I could do the same, sorry I can't, but I will re-post the pics from 4 days ago and then the pic from this am right next to it when I can get my pics uploaded later this am, and then you will see the mad growth I'm getting, just with tap water that's left to sit for quite a while before being used, some Superthrive, and some FFOF & perlite in mini- soil/Hempy cups! I was getting all bummed over the mistake with my light bulbs and convinced that was why I wasn't getting the results I thought I should be getting....and all along it seems I was!

Oh well, like I said in the beginning, I have had a rough day yesterday and actually, it was something I was dealing with already, an issue that was coming due to an injury she sustained some time ago...we knew this day would come, it just finally came....

Okay everyone, I am going to get some much needed rest, I will get those pics up by mid day I hope...Till then, have a great day all...

P.S. FYI: I just thought some of you might be interested to know that I treated her for pain with my MMJ...I would blow it into her face and she would breathe it right in and it calmed her down, she stopped hurting so much, and would lay down on her bed with her head hanging off onto the floor...and she didn't suffer the side effects of her pain meds either that way...she just had bad arthritis and yesterday was the day she just couldn't get up any more....But I am glad I treated her with my MMJ, she did benefit from it so much, just like we do. Just thought I'd pass that on...

RVG, just wanted to say I'm real sorry to hear about your Rot. I'm a dog owner/lover & dread the day I need to make that decision. All we can do is to just give them the best lives we can while they're with us. Glad to hear the plants are doing well & looking forward to the new pics.

Thanks so much bro, that is so cool you thought of me, I appreciate that so much...Yeah, I am kind of a wreck, the last few days has wiped me out.

But ANYWAYS! My latest update and new pics are going to be posted now! So look back in like 10 mins.!

Again, thanks for the understanding, Mr. K......Much needed and appreciated.

Sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and words for me PBRMJ....if you have pets, you might know what this is like....like someone ripped your heart out and shredded it. But I have to push on, and friends that are kind enough to say that they are thinking of me and my lost girl during this time sure make it easier.Thank you so much, friend.:thanks:

Okay boys and girls, here comes the latest pics....I am posting them with the pic of the seedlings from 5 days ago, on April 4th, 1st, then the same plant's pic from about 2am this morning, to show the 5 day difference.

Okay, here goes!

#1 is "Root-y", so named for her MASSIVE roots! This is 5 days ago, on April 4th first, then this am below:

#5 Here's just a shot of the nursery now & my super mad growing, healthy and pretty bag seed babies, 6 more bag seeds sprouts, and a tomato 4pak and an Hawaiian Ti plant I am trying to get some much needed light to!
my_grow_on_4_9_11.jpg

So what do you guys say? Aren't they growing FAST!? I am using a "3/4 Hempy cup= 3/4ths perlite, 1/4th FFOF, set up in a special way, like BlueDog showed us, perlite on bottom half of cup, then FFOF mixed 1/2 and 1/2 w/ more perlite on top of that, then top layer about 1/4th inch high of straight FFOF for the seedlings to have enough moisture and heat retention to sprout, and it really really WORKS!! Look at my DISASTER w/ "seedling soil" bought at Kmart and then putting my seeds in those recycled paper, disposable seedling trays that can't take high heat/ dryness levels and then rewatering...they just suck butt! and my SPECIAL MMJ seeds were KILLED because of those rookie mistakes....It seems we are destined to make some, no matter how much we read first, we can't get it ALL right, right out the gate, at least not many of us! lol!

Well, I am really hoping for my MMJ seeds to be arriving really soon, and I have an AKR I COULD start between now and then since she's a FEM AUTO....I DO feel VERY confident I can successfully germinate and start seedlings now. And I am anxious as all HELL to get my MMJ grow on!

I hope you all enjoyed the pics, OH! I have them on a 20/4 cycle right now, really just cuz I hate to waste so much electricity on bag seeds I was practicing with, although I was thinking of keeping 1 or 2 if they look good, ARE FEMALE, and I have the room. We will see.
I am so thankful for all your help, advice, and encouragement guys, it means the world to me! I hope you like my baby bud porn, even if they had no buds yet, I hope you like the growth and development you see I have received in the last 4 &1/2 or so days!!!

OH! I have had GREAT success in the nursery with the 3rd germination set seeds! The 6 that cracked had 3 w/ long tales, 3 had short, & well all 6 of them sprouted tall in just 48 hrs in the soil (that was after about 60plus hours of a water drip to crack them)!!! In my 3/4 Hempys!

Okay, so I will keep learning, and learning some more here reading journals, it keeps my mind busy right now, which is a very good thing!
Peace!

sooo sorry to hear about u're dog. when they get arthritic, like that, it's probably kinder to let them go.....but u still miss 'em. i've gone thru that w/my border collies. they just love to work for u & it's really hard on u.

Thanks paw-paw....it really does help to hear kind words at this time...to me, nothing is worse than this....to have the one person, well, being, that ALWAYS gives you unconditional love, when no one or other thing does. Dogs have always been in my life, but I am on the back side of 46 already, and we still have a Pug that we got as a puppy @10 wks old, 8 years ago in Sept. this year.
Dogs are just...special. They are always waiting for you, always forgive you when you mistreat them or forget them, they never feel sorry for themselves but seem to have so much love for us...to me, the are the embodiment of love....

I am less now that she is gone in some ways, but I am definitely lucky to have had her in my life for the 3 short years I got to keep her...she will always be a part of who I am...my 6th Rottie in 23 years, probably the 10th or 12th dog in my life.....I love every single one to this day....

I will now totally throw myself into my plants...well, not LITERALLY! But you know what I mean....I am at least GIVING life instead of taking it with these babies....and when I harvest them, I will give thanks for their healing power over my broken body and spirit. And I hope to start cloning, and LSTing, supercropping, PHing, just learning, learning, learning....And hopefully someday, I will be able to see her again on the other side, her and all my dogs and my grandma that raised me, my uncle, dad, and other elders too...

At least thats what Im hoping for...

I hope I didn't say too much, thanks for your warm thoughts my friend, they were so comforting, I guess that's why I just opened up to you...

I hope you liked the new babies I have! Please let me know what you think, okay?

And peace be with you bro.....always.....

wow...no responses to my pics from yesterday..........hmmmmm.........guess everyone's busy. I know I waited too long to post the pics, it took a few days, but only due to the loss of my beloved Rottie....

I am trying so hard to get my mind back on my grow, and Iam, just was hoping all my bros were going to stop by and give me some opinions on the growth rates, color, and any other ideas they might have on these seedlings....

I am ready to start my MMJ grow, just still waiting on seeds delivery from the seed fairy...

Oh well. I hope whoever reads this, someday, had a chance to look at the before and after pics I posted above yesterday for you all to see and comment on.....I hope I get some feedback soon, hard to fight depression like this.........
I need a focus, something to do, thats why I am trying to get my grow on....

Peace to all......................................

sorry, saw the pics.....just got side-tracked. save those photos & look at 'em in a couple of weeks when u've got everything rooted. it's kinda' like raising kids.....takes a while after th' tribulation period to really appreciate u're work. haha! BTW at 46 u're just a kid! i got u by 15yrs.

yeah, & RV didn't have to kill a hundred or so plants, like i did, when i started. sure wish this medium was around back then....woulda' been a lot less frustrating & i wouldn't have quit 25 times.

I'm still watching. Looks like you're off to a good start! :welldone:

Thanks bro, I appreciate your opinion! I know you don't consider yourself a "pro" herb master or whatever, but you have done very well by my opinion, and that's why I respect and value, yours.
I appreciate all comments or ideas you feel like sharing..always.
I start my new MMJ grow next, and I will be ending this journal at this point I think, because I have had everything change since I started it, & I won't have those same strains growing when I start my MMJ grow anyway now. I LOVE your last journal! I am still reading it! And Doc Buds' MANY journals, BlueDog's, Old Med Man of COURSE! And others as well.....

Till I hear from you again, peace and herb always to you!

You're not THAT old, not by today's standards! lol! Don't you know that 60 is the new 40? lol! Yeah, well I hope it is! I know ALLL about being side tracked! lol! Oh, and we raised 6 kids together, and are brand new "empty nesters"! That's why we are in an RV, saving for retirement! No kidding!
Anyways, I know exactly what you mean....still got quite the road ahead of me, but really I hope it goes quick...I need and want my very own, for the first time ever in my life, my own homegrown meds-legally!
I just really appreciate your opinion, your help, and your time spent on seeing what this crazy lady's up to in this lil' RV...
Well, check my newest update on the thread, after I finish w/ my thank you, I will be posting a thread update, a really really good one!!!

Thx again, sweetie! I hope you are healthy and happy!
