Wooohoooo, just remember what I said; employment is over rated. :)

Been a great day today, took way smaller hits and today has been a great day so far, and still so much more yet to do.
Now that I am back to work, I can start to plan a nice road trip ;)

So here are a few pictures of the garden, I had a bit of work to do but think it should turn out not to terrible. I am to old and feeble to be dragging them out for photos so enjoy what I got.

Yeah kind of long but as you can see, my harvest will not be lost and I will get a little something out the girls.
Been smoking Power Wreck all morning and so long as I take really small hits, the high is not overwhelming and I feel great. As for the taste test, well perhaps I am not a pot connoisseur but the washed and the unwashed tasted pretty much the same in my humble opinion. That may be because of the type of person I am, even with beer, I really do not care, its all beer in my opinion. The high is enjoyable and far from couch locking, if anything, I have been doing way more projects today then I can keep up with ;)

Well done OG, looks like the plants are thriving now :bravo:! And thanks for doing the unwashed/washed test, its something I had been considering a lot recently. I too have been enjoying my first harvest, a gram goes so much further than anything I have ever had!

A couple of twists and this bud was ready to climb into the bowl and boldly go where no unwashed bud had gone before- Into my bong for science.

I tried to specialise in bong science in university, for some reason they wouldn't recognise it as a degree despite my extensive research :laughtwo:

Plus you know exactly what is in that hit of medication

Apparently you went to the wrong University, I got my schooling at Montana State University, from bongs, pipes and roaches and the Wednesday night 25 cent beers at the Zoo Bar. I received more credits for my research then I did for my academics. :cheesygrinsmiley:

You're right that is probably the best part, the degree to which it has made me realise how harsh and probably bad for me the bag weed I had been getting was sort of frightening... But that only makes me happier that I took the leap and started growing.

:laughtwo: Sounds like a good time! I'm guessing the Zoo Bar often lived up to its name?

I'm hours late to the party, but I'm high as I speak from my first grow. Close enough?

Meh, whatever. I'll blast off now and I'm sure you guys will catch up by morning.

Congrats OG, so glad you're getting some good for a change.

Well if you mean a huge crowd of college kids spending all of their laundry money to get totally drunk beyond recognition, yeah a whole lot of that went on. Hard to pass on a 25 cent beer, it would be much like if they has 50 cent grams of Bud but you had to smoke it all before you were allowed to leave

Your never to late to enjoy the day :circle-of-love:

So I have done the 1st half of the bud wash taste test and while I smoked the washed bud 1st 2nd and 3rd, hits 4 and 5 and possibly 6 were from the unwashed buds. Both were very mild though I did notice one thing, with the unwashed bud I had a slight after taste which I did not get from the washed bud. It was not a bad after taste, it was just kind of like lingering in my mouth and senses for around a minute. I imagine it could have something to do with the fact I was high and my senses were heightened but todays test should clear that up. Today I start with the unwashed buds and move over to the washed buds. As for the overall 1st impression of each hit, very smooth, no harshness at all, taste was enjoyable and quite pleasant, though this may be an adverse effect since once I tasted it, I knew exactly what was about to follow :cheesygrinsmiley: Only one way to settle this question for me and that is to get the 2nd 1/2 of this test started. I am not big on wake and bake but what the heck, it beats the hell out of a beer this early in the morning, besides it is in the name of science ;)

So here is a little update which I should have mentioned some time ago. When I was finishing up with grow #1 I switched the lighting schedule to 8/16 to try and push the girls into the last hurrah in hopes of getting a smidgen more oil out of them. Well in all the confusion of family medical issues and the rest I put grow #2 into the flower tent and went about my business. It was not for 3 weeks before I realized that I was still on a 8/16 lighting schedule. At this point I was was feeling like I had totally screwed up and it was to late to push them back out to 12/12 because they could hermmie. I did consider going 9/15 for a week then 10/14 another then 11/13 but with everything going on I decided screw it, I would just finish it out at 8/16. Well the wife is digging the hell out of the lower electric bill, so that has been a big plus since we all know, a happy wife makes for a happy life.
I do think I would be getting a larger harvest had I had the 12/12 for the stretch phase of the flowering but as far as bud formation and development, I am actually pretty darn pleased with the 8/16 schedule even though it was a fuck up on my part.
3 of the plants I presently have in flower are the same variety I had under my SCROG for grow #1 and to be totally honest, I may end up with as much or at least close to the same amount of yield as I did on my 1st go around. Buds are nice and dense.

Oh and today I have started out with the unwashed buds to compare if the taste test was compromised by smoking the unwashed when I was high as opposed to that 1st hit when your not influenced by anything. I will give my opinion on my results either this afternoon or tomorrow night.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday and staying safe

Ok my results of the Bud Wash Taste Test are completed. I had 3 separate people besides myself do the taste test, 2 males and 1 female not that would make a difference but here is what I discovered. Kathy said that she did notice that samples from bag A and C were slightly smoother then from bag B but she also pointed out that both were very tasty and quiet smooth. Allen and Rick agreed
that bags D and F were very smooth and tasty but the bag marked E had a slightly stronger after taste in their mouth, then agreed with Kathy's diagnosis of the taste and smoothness of the hits. They all agreed that they would be quiet happy smoking any of the samples I gave them.
Now for my samples, I started the day with bag F then next hit was from bag D. Followed by bags ABCE and G then I stitched over to my summer harvest Sativa. Since only I knew what was in each bag it is safe to say this was a fairly balanced test. The washed bags were bags ACD and F and the unwashed buds were in Bags BF and G. I let each person pick 3 bags to sample over the course of a week. Now remembering that the people I used as test subjects, including myself are just everyday people, the youngest subject was 55 though. The wash was a tad bit smoother, that I truly believe. How much smoother? Noticeable for sure, and if you are the type of person who has to have the best that is available, then bud washing is for you. Was it worth the effort to do? Well let me put it this way, if I have the time available to bud wash when I harvest, chances are I will but if I miss a crop here and there because of life, I really do not think I will sweat it. Would I or any of my test subjects walk away from a bowl of the unwashed? Least not the Power Wreck, even the unwashed buds were very smooth and had a nice slight after taste but it was a pleasant after taste. I would think this would be excellent for people who never smoked cigarets. Being an old smoker of 42 years the only issue I have taking hits is when I try to fill my lungs up like I did when I was a younger man. BAD idea!!! I smoke Marlboro so even the roughest of weed is not near as bad.

Sorry for rambling, I tend to get talkative when I am high and I am loving this, getting so much more done around the house. Almost have my grow area back to where I want it, man I let it slip into major disarray. Now may be a good time to stop smoking cigarets since I can stimulate that urges other ways now ;)

So I took a few pictures to send over to my brother so I figured I might as well do another update. From the present look of the tops of the flowers I am looking at an early harvest. I originally thought I had 2 to 3 more weeks before harvest and now looking at the flowers, I had to reevaluate my thinking. Now I am thinking about 7 days for all but one plant, I may be able to stretch that one into 14 days but that may change, since stuff has really sped up around here the last few days. Either way I am a happy camper with how this one turned out considering where I started and the screw ups I did and the general abuse of these sweet girls.

so today I finished my cure for grow #1 and bagged it up to get put away. At the rate I smoke, I literally could stop growing for a year and still have some in reserve. But way to many different strains to try out, whats a grower to do? Oh well off to the medicine cabinet!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I did ;) I only wish you all could have part of the bud wash taste test. Now that would have been fun, every hitting up a bowl all at the same time. I AM HOPING THAT SOMETIME MAYBE AROUND THE END OF NEXT MONTH I will be able to sweet talk the wife into a road trip south. Who knows how far south we could go on a long weekend :) but I do have an idea of how far south. I could take the Bud Wash Taste Test on the road

Have a great week everyone, be safe and well :circle-of-love:

Hey OG - You have bag 'F' as both washed and unwashed. I think one of them should be 'E', but no idea which.
Also, I first heard about washing from Doc Bud. With his HB kit, we use a lot of foliars, spraying fish juice on the plants. When using foliar sprays like that, the washing probably makes a bigger difference in flavor. Considering what a pain trimming is, I find washing the most enjoyable part of chopping. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Excellent taste test! Thanks for the report!

In my defense I was high as a kite when I wrote that report, I am actually surprised I only made one typo. :loopy::bongrip::rofl:

Like I said, I think I will continue to wash my buds so long as I am not pressed for time, my set up is a bit cramped, I am pretty much like a monkey fucking a football back here so some things that should not take very long can be a pain just because I have no room for anything. I literally have a 2 foot walkway and that is it. My favorite part of the chop is when it is OVER, if I could find someone to chop and cure for me for a cut, I would be all over it.

I hope you are doing OK, OG.
We're here for ya.

Hey OG! Cant believe i some how missed this thread til now. Sorry man. But a job well done on the recovery mission my friend. Turned out exceptionally well indeed. Congrats on a sweet harvest! :thumb: :lot-o-toke:

I am tired, but mostly my concerns are for my brother. I was exceptionally proud of my brothers son for staying with him at his home the last week, and for taking care of all the needed arrangements like calling the funeral home and contacting hospice to pick up Linda. Allan was very distraught when she died this morning, and Warren really stepped up to the plate to take some of the load from his fathers shoulders. I was very proud of him today. Truly a very good young man he has become. Now for the reality to start to sink in :(

It has turned out better then I deserve at this point.

I've rewrote this sentence dozens of times now, and there is just no words.

I am so sorry to hear this OG. She exists in the love you all have for her son.

I've really no words, my thoughts are with you tonight.
