One mother says her daughter is paying the price for state legislators not passing a medical marijuana bill this year.

April Pace has a 19-year-old daughter named Dixie who suffers multiple seizures daily.

One seizure from last Friday left her with a broken nose, a dislocated shoulder and four teeth knocked out.

Her mother says she's on pain medicine and an anti-seizure drug that leaves her unable to do much.

"She's normally bubbly, outgoing, very loving, and medication does this to her. This is why we're fighting at the Statehouse for cannabis, so that we can get Dixie back and stop all these injuries," Pace said.

A Senate committee voted this year against a medical marijuana bill. SLED Chief Mark Keel insists there's no scientific proof that marijuana helps many of the conditions that supporters say it does and the drug has caused problems in states that have legalized medical marijuana.
