Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon Haze

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

Thanks Sense Amelia and geturgrowon!:Namaste:

Electricthom, I am looking into buying a 400 watt digital ballast. It is an expensive purchase and I will wait until after this grow is done, and probably one more run with just Auto's and CFL's. My original plan would have included buying a tent and HID light right from the start, but I decided to recover some costs by getting personally sustainable before spending the big bucks. I can always use CFL's for other things if growing didn't work out or I switch to HID. Heat was also a concern, but I think the ~15 mini cfl ballasts generate twice as much heat as the one 400 watt bulb will (especially in a cool tube/vented hood).

Thanks for the comments!:bong:

Can anybody help me, please and thank you?:yikes:

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

Hi. I am a newb as ya know. If it is happening in a rather uniform symmetrical way then it is looking like a nitrogen deficiency. I had the same. Let others chime in first though to correct me in case I am wrong. If it is an N def. I popped out and bought a bottle of Canna Mono 27% N and I applied very sparingly but it perked my girls right up.

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

I think the yellowing and on the Vanilla Kush could be natural. It is really exploding into full blown flower. It is right on track, I think!
The Super Lemon Haze is starting to put out some nice flowers too, I think the stretch is over for this girl.
The leaves I was worried about are still curling up and dying, but I feel like it is something that has happened and gotten better and I am just seeing the result of what happened.... :wood::lot-o-toke:
The Diesel Ryder's are getting big! I am surprised at the size of them considering they've been on 12/12 for 23 out of 28 days since sprouting.
The #1 DR is growing much quicker than the #2, even though the environment has been very similar. The airflow is a little different in areas of my small space
My camera is dead for now, but I will post pictures when it finishes charging.

It's really exciting at this point! It's nice to follow along with other people that are in the same stage of their grows too. If any one has requests for certain pictures at this point, let me know!
Thanks for every body's advice up to this point, and happy growing!:peace::hippy:

Oh, I forgot I added some DIY "reflectors" above the two big plants. It really helps with focusing more light on the main cola!

Another little factiod about florescent bulbs, they start to lose brightness from day one as soon as they're installed, so if they lasted that many hours it could be as low as 70% of the original light with same power consumption. I don't mean they are no good, I use them in my nursery and veg tent but I buy cheap and change often.

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

I know what you mean Electricthom, you can tell by the pictures that the 42 watters were not even as bright as some of the 13 watters.
They will be recycled after this grow.

Speaking of pictures!

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

I took them out of the box today for some water.
They got 3 Litres each of full strength GO box for VK2 and SLH2.
1.5 Litres of 1/4 strength for the auto.

Good representation of Sativa(Left), Indica(Right), Ruderalis Hybrid(Middle)

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

So... Yesterday, I decided it would be a good idea to super-crop the stretching automatic. (grew 3 inches in 2 days)

Instead I super-crapped it and broke the entire 6" top clean off! :thedoubletake:

I quickly grabbed some tape and stuck it back together... I checked it a couple of hours later and the top was bent over looking really sad and dead.

This morning it looks like nothing happened.

I think I know why Mutt calls it super-crapping now.... because I nearly crapped my pants when it happened!

These plants are amazing!!:cheer:

Re: Scop's First Grow-Under Stair CFL DIY Grow Box In Soil-Vanilla Kush,Super Lemon H

I took them out of the box for some water today.
The big girls got 4L each in 2L sessions spaced out by about 20 minutes. I got a little more than .5 Litre run off from each one.
DR #1 got 2 L of nearly full strength bloom nutrients with very little run off

I've been cutting off the dead leaves the last few days. They look a little better now. Starting to fill in, fatten up, and frost out!
