Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

Hello everyone! I started my second grow a month ago, and finally have some pictures worth sharing.
I’ve found this forum very helpful with my first grow. So much information gleaned from hours of reading posts, following other’s grows, and getting advice from the more experienced growers! So I thought I would chronicle my second grow here as well, as I couldn’t have done it without you all!
:thanks:

My first grow is still drying/curing, although I did leave a few buds on the plant to try to create some sleep medicine.

Second round:
1 Blood Banana (BB) from E-M seeds.
(Evil Banner x Banana Blaze)
2 of the Pebbles Pranks (PP) E-M seeds
(Girl Scout Cookie x Fruity Pebble OG)
Popped above soil on Feb26th.

Using fabric grow bags, with Sunshine # 4 for one PP and one BB. The 3rd plant, a PP is in a mix made by a local boutique nursery, who says it’s similar to Fox Farms. Just experimenting with it at this point.

Watering with harvested rainwater, as our well water is very hard and has a PH of 8. The rainwater has a PH of 7 after it’s been sitting for awhile.

Using GH trio again for this round. Mostly due to low cost and ease of use. My next few I start will be photos, in my raised bed, and I will switch to organic nutes.

PP, 32 days old

Decided to try out these clips for LST since the plants aren’t tall enough to tie down to edge of pots.

And here is the BB with clip, didn’t get a before on her.

And last, AND most certainly least, is my PP in the local soil mix. Very unimpressive so far. Considering whether I should try to transplant (no no with autos, right?) or just leave it and see what happens. Maybe it will be a sleeper, lol. Just goes to show you what a difference soil makes.

Awesome looking plants. I am jelly I can not get plants out this early. Looking good wish you the best take care..

Thank you!! My first plant I started outdoors on Dec 2nd! Growing thru the winter is one of the advantages of southern Arizona. Come ask me about the disadvantages come July/August, lol!!!

Count me in for this ride! I worked so hard trying to find this journal...endless amount of searching! Glad I finally found it...I just wish someone would have posted a link or something you know

:lot-o-toke:

I'm following yours look better than mine

I was kidding. No need to apologize at all. I'm just a joker at heart when I get comfortable. I was referring to Shed posting the link in your other journal. Haa haa. I didn't have to find it at all. Just clicked the link he provided. And now that you mentioned the signature link, I didn't even think to look there. Duh!

Oh haha! I totally missed the sarcasm, lol. I’m a little too literal sometimes for my own good.

Nah, yours haven’t been outside as long is all. And did you see the tiny one in the front pot that that is my experiment with a different soil? That little runt is a month old also. :laughtwo: And same strain as my biggest seedling.

My indoor grow 3 plants same conditions. 1 was a genetic nightmare. I should have tossed it earlier. Live and learn. Oh and I'm harvesting Saturday. Turned out the lights this morning.

Awesome! Can’t wait to see your harvest photos.

Updated pics after some low stress training. I posted them to the wrong journal the first time so if you’ve already seen this update in my first journal... there’s nothing new here, sorry, lol! Just wanted to make sure they were posted in the right place.

I had tried using the clips for my first bend, but my PP grew so fast it popped right outta the clip so I dec go with the traditional wire and stake method

My BB not as big and stayed in the clip. I decided to leave it on for now and just tie down the tip.

Used these soft rubber covered wires from the dollar store.

I also put the 40% shade cloth back over the top of the box. These girls prob don’t need it but I have seedlings in there as well, that are a little more delicate. Unfortunately the wildlife pressure is so high at my house they all have to be in the box until they’re bigger and I can make a wire ring around them like everything else in my yard.

Looking great wanna lst my outdoor girls. How they handling the heat so far. Mine seem to be ok. At least we're still having cool mornings. I think that helps a lot

How they handling the heat so far
They seem to love it so far! 99F today. When it gets hotter I may move the whole box under the East side of my huge Blue Paloverde. It stays cooler under there with dappled afternoon shade.
I already started putting up the shade cloths over my new bare root fruit trees. Earliest I’ve ever done that, hoping the heat backs down a bit, it’s too early!!
Tagging along
Welcome! Glad to have ya!!

Here’s a pic of the box I’m using for now. 3x3x4 covered in 1/4” hardware cloth. I built it a couple years ago for garden starts and small potted stuff. When you have the only green things in the desert for miles, everything wants to eat them!
