Seeking MMJ doc in Fairfield, CA

Hi gang,

I'm moving to CA in a few days and am hoping to find a really top doc who can get me off the pain killers if possible, or at least decrease them. I'm a mess and few doctors will take me as a patient. I need a doc with pain specialty, but also have a lot of sticky questions about rules like state rules vs. fed rules. A doc in this area will likely know the answers.

I look forward to this move and hope my life can be given back. I'm tired of pain and that goes with it. Tired of medications that are dangerous!

While I'm here, I also seek info on my father with cancer and weeks to live and my aunt with full blow MS just diagnosed. Her symptoms are severe and it's moving fast. I'd like a website of info to send to her about any MS help, MMJ or not.

I have and little luck searching for these myself.... priority on a MMJ doc who wants a challenge!

TY!

You have many options since you will be near the Bay Area as well as Sacramento. Check out these websites:

Locations - Medical Marijuana - California - MMEC - Marijuana Medicine Evaluation Centers

Well, getting a card here from Medican was easy enough with well documented records. However, finding a REAL doctor, one to take over my medical care knowing well about the MMJ and who is willing to advise me on the use of MJ, or at least take me as a patient while using it, is proving impossible. FInding any doctor is almost as hard. I got my card in Spring of 2010 and now it is late fall. I have been turned away from medical care and pain clinics, and drug tested at each before they will take me as a patient. My med recs are full of things like "I refuse to quit." Each doc or office knows I have a card and all is legal, they have 15 years of records in their hands including SSDI evals. and more. No one will take me unless I "quit taking drugs!" I hide no secrets, take the pee tests, and make it clear I am open to new things. It doesn't matter! I have a family doc now that is being forced to treat me by my insurance, and he's making life hell because of it. The specialists I desperately need can still refuse to see me.

I moved to this state, CA, full of hope for a chance at life once again. I was gravely wrong. Card holders here are still forced to hide their MMJ use from everyone, even close friends. The law still raids houses and businesses of card holders. Please consider that if you depend on other medications to stay alive, and chose to use Medical marijuana, you might have to give up health care and those medications you need.

If I can save anyone else the hell I'm going through, then this book I'm writing was worth the time. I look back and see nothing I can change or would change. Striving to replace dangerous meds with MMJ still seems the only option. If it is all possible to develop a relationship and history with a good doctor BEFORE starting medical marijuana, do it. Your are less likely to get tested then, and less likely to be turned away from a doctor who knows you. It is extremely difficult to find a good doctor in any case...

Until laws are made making it illegal for a doctor deny medical care to anyone taking a legal substance, I don't see an end to this abuse. I would have thought the Hippocratic oath covered this, guess not. I'll keep fighting, for this is something worth fighting for.

I hope this helps someone else,

Lusi
