Skunker's 1st Journal, 5th Sour Diesel Grow

Welcome to my first official journal.
Strain: Sour Diesel
Stage: After 7 weeks of veg, started flowering on March 28, 2020
Indoor Garden: Tent, 4' x 4' x 6.5'
Soil: An organic proprietary blend, manufactured for a local supplier by Greentree. GreenTree CocoTM, sphagnum peatmoss and specially selected organic nutrients, worm castings, bat guano, humic acids, and a biochar* that encourages microbiology, improves water retention, and locks in carbon.
Pot size: Four - 5 gallon plastic pots. Basically, 5 gal pails with large holes drilled in the bottom for drainage.
Light: Veg Stage: 24 hour lighting with two 4-foot 6-bulb lights from HydroFarm, with 3000k cfl bulbs, to cover a 4'x4' area
Flower Stage: 12/12 lighting with an air cooled1000w HPS, and a Meize 450 LED
Temp: Temp varies between 78 - 84 F, when lights are on, 59 to 63 F when lights are off
Rel Hum: 55%, on average
pH: 6.3
Water Source: I filter my water through a reverse osmosis system and store it in a 10 gallon vessel. All my water is adjusted to a 6.3 pH before use. I also reclaim water from my dehumidifier, which is an excellent source due to its low ppm of dissolved solids and a pH of typically 6.2.
CO2: As soon as they are moved into the grow tent, I start adding CO2. I use Titan's Atlas 8 controller with Fuzzy Logic to maintain a CO2 level between 1350 and 1500 ppm while lights are on.
Nutrients: During vegetation, zero. I rely solely on the nutrients provided by the soil. Additional nutrient supplement doesn't typically start until the final week of veg. When I do start supplementing, I use Nectar For The Gods, exclusively, throughout my flowering cycle. I follow their guidelines, which seem to be adequate. The amount of each depends on the stage of flower (early, mid, late, flush) and administered in ml/gal. I always adjust my water's pH to 6.3.
Medusa's Magic (10, 10, 5, 0)
Zeus Juice (10, 10, 5, 0)
Gaia Mania (10, 10, 10, 0)
Demeter's Destiny (10, 10, 10, 0)
The Kraken (10, 15, 10, 0)
Aphrodite's Extraction (10, 15, 30, 15)
Bloom Khaos (given as foliar spray only, 15, 15, 0)
Athena's Aminas (15, 30, 15, 0)
Mega Morpheus (15, 30, 30, 0)
Herculean Harvest (30, 60, 60, 30)
Feeding Schedule: My feeding schedule is fluid, depending on how quickly they uptake their previous feeding, but typically runs once every 6 to 7 days. Basically, I wait to feed until the pails feel light and signs of wilting start to show.
Yield: I have grown this particular strain 4 times. The first grow was from feminized seeds, purchased through 420. The following grows were started from cloning the previous grow, clippings taken during the veg cycle. All grows have resulted in approximately 12 ounces each, trimmed, dried and cured. In each case, I have felt the need to harvest prematurely, ahead of my predicted schedule (week 7, instead of the desired 9 week flowering) because of a noticeable decrease in nutrient/water uptake and browning of bud leaves. This particular grow will be the last one in plastic pots, as I am changing to fiber pots for all future grows. My feeling is the plastic pails are the cause of low production, caused by inadequate oxygenation of the root system, but, honestly, I'm grasping at straws to find an answer.

More than 1/2 have sprouted roots. The rest will pop within the next few days, hopefully.

SOG.jpg SOG - Sour Diesel, Day 10 of flowering
The color is being effected by a green LED bulb. I use this when I need to check on the girls during their bedtime. I don't use it often, and when I do, not for long. It hasn't seemed to affect them during flowering, at least not that I have noticed.
Thanks for taking time to see what I'm up to. I appreciate any input or questions you my have.

Well, here I am at day 38 with my Sour Diesel grow, and, as with my past grows, yellowing has begun. Not on all plants, as you can see, just the ones closest to the LED and CO2 fan. The distance between the LED light and the plant tops is 20 inches, 24 inches from the HPS. I've decided to shut down the LED and changed the 1000w for a 600w, assuming that the damage I'm seeing is from the light intensity. 20200504_213319.jpg20200504_213307.jpg20200504_213303.jpg20200504_213258.jpg20200504_213254.jpg20200504_213252.jpg20200504_213245.jpg20200504_213234.jpg20200504_213225.jpg20200504_213220.jpg

I love that cloning setup bro, dope. I'll stick around and see how it goes. :goodluck:

Hey there, Moneyman223. Cloning was another success! All clippings have rooted. Several were put in soil, with some staying indoor and the others going outdoor. The rest were given to a friend to start up his hydroponic system. It'll be interesting to compare harvest results between the three growing methods of the same strain taken from the same host.

Day 40 - It's been two days since replacing the 1000w hps with a 600w hps, and eliminating the 450w LED (not really a true 450 watt, just the model number. More like 227 watt, I think). I'm still seeing yellowing and curling, but only on one of four. I'm going to be patient though. She has the largest and most dense buds. She also is the first to show "normal" yellowing on a few fan leaves. That doesn't concern me. What does is the curling and goldfish color to the some of the top fan leaves. I'm not sure if decreasing the available light is the answer.

Day 45 - Since replacing the 1000w HPS with a 600w and eliminating the LED, my girls have continued to flourish with no further damage that I was receiving from the intense lighting originally used. Buds are looking and feeling chubby and sticky. 18 to 25 days away from maturity and harvest

Day 49 - the aroma is amazing. Everytime I go around my wife after checking on my "girls", I hear "You smell like a skunk!" Not a bad thing to hear.

Day 56 - One week away from harvest, and everything is looking good. Better than good. Great, in fact. The aroma when I open the tent is tremendous, pungent and tangy. I'm tempted to start up my UV-B light and try to increase the tricomb production, but I'm a little leery of it, because I don't have the recommended 3-foot of clear space between light and flowers, I dont want to burn them. Anyhow, here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.20200523_221615.jpg20200523_221440.jpg20200523_221416.jpg20200523_221407.jpg20200523_221353.jpg20200523_221342.jpg
