Skybound's Journal

How's our resident mad scientist doing today :headbanger: .... :) .... :ciao:

Struggling with my printer, but wasn't able to fix it by noon so I left it be to chop down that ugly ass Gglue @53 days. It only fills 2 coat hangers, so maybe as much as 5 ounces. I hate the emotional heart sink feeling associated with weak harvests, and that's literally all I've had for about the last 8 rounds with the occasionally half decent yield. Still, I press through it and shave off what I can to reinvest in what's about to come. so I cleaned everything and stole 2 pics of the room before I cleaned it to show the accumulated fish guts spray on the walls. FWIW, this net was on them walls for about 4 rounds as I can't wash it while it's stapled up, so you know it was hella filthy. But the net is gone, and I should only need to use this room for another 2-3 weeks before I take it apart and slowly reclaim that room. Tonight will be the first time in 4 years my lights will all be shining at the same time. I needed to align my rooms so when move time comes, all blooming plants can go right into the new room w/o any hiccups.

Next round is in about 3 weeks with a good sized Em Dog. 3 weeks later I'll have 2 huge Pineapple Chunks to harvest together, then another wee will be a pair of glues and hopefully after then I'll be taking about one a week from the big room.

A Purple and GSC are still standing and building roots. As soon as they start adding foliage I'll get them down under the QBs, but for now just keeping them under the T5.

If you look closely, you can see the thousands of little dots and the larger drop rings, all from my foliars. Bud washing is mandatory now, but then again I've never not washed.

Sucks about the light harvest, but it's down now so still a successful run. I'm planning on trying a bud wash with my next 24k harvest. Just because bugs were in the basement with that tent. Haven't seen any in that tent. But still seems dirty. Lol

You won't regret it and it will make your trim session no less than 10x easier as your shears will not gunk up. Then it becomes legit like trimming lettuce, lol.

Do you do the lemon juice and baking soda method

yes. I always do around 5gals mixed with anywhere from a 1/2cup to whole cup of each lemon concentrate in the bottle to baking soda. Today's mix I did 1 cup lemon to half cup bake to about 5 gals of RO. Actually, here a video I shot a few months ago.

Sorry that it looks like a late 70s porno video quality. It was 2 vids and the app I used to merge them screwed up[ the aspect ratio. Plus I'm sure you remember the scratched lens on my old phone, lol. I still use that spray bar in bucket one to keep things well mixed and actively applied to the buds as they lay in the drink waiting for me to slosh them around. Above all 3, I keep a clothes line for between stage dripping. That limits cross contamination and most of the lemon/bake stays in bucket one.

I just read Woody's post on Dank's journal and his bit about cleanup. That's one thing I'm going to miss about these 1x rooms, being able to quickly, but thoroughly clean everything at every interval. When I have 9 plants in one room, I'll lose the ability to do a major cleanup like that. Hopeful I will be able to move the herd to one side while I scrub down the other because I want to make that room as undesirable to insects as possible.

I would hate to try and water these plants in those airpots under the net no frigging way lol!

Mine often let water fly out the side holes almost like a sprinkler, lol. They can definitely make a mess of things.

I no I trickle the water over the top let it set for a minute then very slowly add more over the top and around the stalk then I wait ten minutes or so and then its ready to slowly soak in the water ther quite the hassle to water but the plants sure like em!

Now that all my bloom lights are on, it's easy to get a nice group photo in parts. Also, all the plants look pretty good for a change.

Em Dog at 33 days over and under

to the left of the PVC is the soil PC. she has less bud sites, but I think she looks a bit better than the hydro PC on the right. Her tips are singed and her green doesn't look as stable.

And finally the 2 foot Em Dog I just dragged out of veg. Her leaves are singled b/c I let her get too rootbound. I just gave her some recharge and tomorrow she'll sprayed with seaweed for a nice K blast. Also, I moved in those small Gglues as them PCs are about to explode up in C.

I've grown afew tri plants.. Forgot how to spell what I mean,, trifoliour?????? that... but most grow to a normal after a bit.. Unless they do what I call a deadhead and don't form anymore branching.. I've seen that before.. RARELY...

I myself never washed a bud from indoor. I have done it before on a crop that I forgot to spray with Captin Jacks, when I threw the buds in the drying nets,, the next morning all these little inchworms were fast-roping down from the nets.. After a good shake or two in water to loosen up and let the worm poop fall free,, that water got rather dark...

But indoors,,, the worse that should ever be on a plants buddage is alittle dust and that damn piece of hair that ruins my best pics,, ever wonder how alot every main bud seems to catch a hair in our photos? I understand that THC doesn't 'break down' in water... But I think any manhandling of a bud will jar trichomes loose. Least my thoughts?????

I've never been one for the net/trellises. I did get great results doing a SCroG before. But then I've lost plants because they were tied together and got either PM or Mites and I could'nd separate and more them around. And I do like to rotate my plants every few days to even out the points of light. Even tho I use a light rail I feel a plant still needs a 180 degree turn every now and then.
I most of the time use one bamboo stake dead center and spider afew little twist wires down from it to the main branches that need help. And add as needed..

Hey least you got some smoke now.. From sounds of it,, should last till the Em-Dog is done???

GL and garden looks great.. Keepem Green

This is likely what I'll be doing as the weeks progress. Potted rockwool is too loose of a medium to reliably stake into, but soil is a lot more weighted and stakes will jive well with that situation.

A few years back, Dutty Panty was sending washed and unwashed buds to the lab for comparison and there was no visible lose, so at most, tens of tric heads broke off while being jostled around in the drink, but the washed produce had a lot less contaminants overall. IDK about you, but I spray ground up fish on my plants, and it would be downright evil of me to not wash my chops, lol.

I hear ya... I've had trouble staking out plants in them clay rocks. Only grew in rockwool once to completion. I had a string tied everywhere in my tent doing a Leach Tray dripper setup. 6" cubes mated ontop them 36" slabs. ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS.. I let the plants get alittle too big,,, my bad...

Soil has a little substance to it. Myself,,, I don't like to spray anything on a plant after say a week, push 10 days... If needed for say for bug treatment and or determent. All that shit will be toast come harvest. Sun leaves and other trash. But fish shit really isn't a high toxin. Kind of organic ain't it??? Not that I'd care to smoke it...

Bet your cats,,, if any,,, wood love to kick it in the flower room?? I made the mistake once on an outdoor grow,,, buried acouple fish like 10"deep in a transplant hole being one of them American Indians tricks... Watered in some 8-10" seedlings and went home.. Rained a tad the next couple days,,, cool... 4-5 days later, got on the boat and went to check up on them on these islands in Sacramento River Delta close to SF. ,,, Damn near every one of them seedlings I used the fish under, got ripped to shreds by raccoons after the fish... Lesson learned? Good thing I didn't catch enough fish that day to use on ALL my plants...........

Man, that was a great year.... I did really well yield wise with what I had,,, weed prices were 4,000-4,500$ per pound in Oakland at the Co-Op buyers in whatever year that was Cali first started trading in medical marijuana... They wood buy everything you had too....... Shit, we had a big ass pole barn we built ontop a big ass hill in the middle of abunch of windmills looking out over San Fransico... Altamount Pass... Pretty at night,, that barn had them white corrugated fiber glass panels on the whole roof,, and yellow ones for walls. Dirt floor and HUGE. 150 plants, 8-10' tall. Did that for afew years,,, till we got popped. Long story,, ended my ass in San Joaquin County for a minute or two.. MFer's took alot of my shit. We had a huge veg setup and clone trays in a trailer up there.. But did buy alot of my lights back from a police auction for a dime on the dollar...

Sorry babbling... Need to got rack out,,, but I do see why you might wanna wash them buds...

plants are looking great sky im with you I like the soil grown pc over the hydro and in the end the soil grown is going to be noticeably tastier it looks like you got the bugs worked out now get down to some serious growing that 3 blade could end up being something special:)have a good one bud!

In the high brix kit, they spray fish guts (not fish poop) till right about the end of bloom. The fish spray triggers enzyme which then exudate out the roots which then becomes a trading currency with soil microbes for ionic elements. That said, I've been adopting these techniques to up my game and hit the ground running in soil. Since I'm in soil, might as well aim for high brix as high brix plants are alleged to not be attractive to insects in the first place, plus also the smoke is supposed to be superior to everything else.

Thanks Sticky! I'll remain optimistic about the difference in smoke flavors, but I want to emphasize that my smoke was already super sweet and super smooth, though TBH, I don't think I've ever smoked any good organic bud, so I have no room for comparison, but I really think my hydro will stack up well, but only time will tell how that prediction goes, lol.

As to bugs, I definitely didn't figure anything out, I just don't think I got any yet. But then again, I got so many floaters bouncing around in my pupils that I'm not sure if I don't see any bugs, or if it's just eyeball floaters I keep seeing. It's a very funny problem to have, but for now I'm more or less ignoring it as I can't afford to remedy anything if I did have a problem. As is, my highest priority is just getting that 9x9 built and light hung, room sealed and the extraction worked out. Once that 9x9 is producing, I will be able to tackle all the other problems as they come.
