Snapped a stem

So I snapped a lower stem when doing lst on my autos, didn't know what to do so I used painter's tape to keep it together, was this the right thing to do?

And will for a few days. She’ll bounce back as long as it wasn’t a complete break.

It could have broken all the way not sure, think it was hanging on a thread

How will that effect the plant?

it will be smaller.... sorry I couldn't help myself.Your plant will be fine it will might even give the other sites a boost. Make the wound/ break/ amputation site as clean as you can and maybe try and protect it from crud until it scabs over if that's the way you decide / have to go.
