Soil preperation

Okay so I am using promix and normally most people suggest adding 1 cup of dolomite lime per cubic foot of soil and has lime already added now what I am wondering is considering that promix already has a fairly decent cec rating which is its cation exchange capacity on the other hand perlite has a very low cec

So if I add 40% perlite to the existing promix would I still only add 1 cup of dolomite per cubic foot even though the cation exchange is going to be much lower then normal perlite and the whole point of adding dolomite is to increase the cec of your soil.

I would still stick with just the 1cup/CuFt.

Works for me and I also run ~40% perlite.

You can always add more down the line if necessary, but I doubt if you would need it.

I recycle my soil and also add some pelletized lime to my mix. This is mainly for the recycle since it takes the pellets a couple of months to start breaking down. Right about the time the powdered runs out.
