Sour Diesel, Second Grow, First Time In Coco!

Glad to have you along for the ride. So far, my plants are healthy and growing more quickly than my previous soil grow using the ph perfect line from Advanced Nutrients.

I have been adding cal-mag with every watering and doing liquid seaweed once a week, other than that I'm following Canuk's method with the Gaia Green nutes. I'm going to stick to the course and hope to pull it off. I've seen one more journal that did Canuk's method from start to finish - it was his first time growing and he did pretty well.

I've upped my watering frequency based on comments I've received. It seems everyone tries to talk people out of Canuk's method. I must be stubborn. Haha
Hey if it works, it works, I've tried GG top dress bloom nutrient on my first grow, which sadly was a disaster due to rookie error and an erratic light schedule. I have my clones in coco now, not a fan of soil now, I'm liking this coco medium.

Happy growing!

His methods are definitely controversial round these parts. It's just so cheap and convenient! I've enjoyed your journals and I'm glad to have you around!
"Cheap" yes,
"Convenient" I'll believe it when I see it lol.

Youre the first person I've followed doing this to be fair. I usually put my caps lock on and shout at folk not to do it.

Just gonna sit in the side lines though and see how it works out for you bud.
Every day is a school day and all that.

What your doing is pretty much the exact opposite of what I, and 99% of Coco growers do though.
It's pretty much just Mr canuk that does it this way and hes missing some sort of vital piece of explanation into how he does it so 99% of people fuck their crops trying to do it.

It's honestly madness mate. I was trying to keep quiet but the sativa is kicking in now and I've got to tell the truth haha.
Seriously though mate. I can only think of one more difficult way to grow weed and that's hand watering 8inch rockwools.
A topic I tried talking someone else out of and haven't seen him since. Pretty sure they must be dead by now lol.

Madness! haha. That sativa must be good! I'll keep updating the journal and hopefully pull through to harvest. If worst comes to worst I still have some bottled nutes left over from my last grow. I wonder if these other guys who disappeared had their environment dialed in?

I set up the scrog net tonight, as a couple of the plants are outpacing the others in vertical growth. Growth is taking place pretty quickly and I'll be actively LST'ing with the scrog net every couple of days until I'm happy with the canopy. Cheers!

I stepped up to a 600w MH conversion bulb today and my temps are still sitting pretty at just under 25c. I'm liking my odds of being able to use a 1k HPS come flowering. Moving up to 600w has allowed me to move the light higher and get a more even distribution throughout the canopy too.

Cheers!

Here is an update on the outdoor experiment. This plant is bigger than anything I have ever grown indoors by leaps and bounds. The stalk is huge! There is a little bit of hail damage, but it appears to be nice and healthy. Fingers crossed for a mild fall and tons of outdoor weed for edibles. Cheers!

I've been googling again... which means that I'm thinking of dropping a couple hundred bucks on autopots. My primary concern would be that I'm topdressing nutes. Would a bottom feed system be ok with topdressing? What if I were to manually water the top feed in a couple of times before letting the autopots do their thing? Anyone have experience topdressing in them? Thanks!

The girls are 33 days from seed and the scrog net is filling in nicely. No issues with the plants and everything is growing quickly and healthily. I've been giving moderate waterings daily with Cal-Mag, and adding liquid seaweed once a week.

Mr. Canuck's method seems to be working. Cheers!

That's awesome, they look really healthy. Are you using the cal-mag at full strength? When do you plan on re-amending the coco?

Day 35 from seed. I was hoping to switch to flower as soon as they started showing signs of maturity, but I may have to flip sooner. No signs of sex yet and the screen is filling nicely. The last thing I need is to be dealing with height issues due to waiting to long to flip.

Thinking I'll give it another 5 days, if they haven't shown sex by then, it's flip time regardless. Once I flip, I'm going to let them stretch for a solid week before I take the fiskars to the stuff below the canopy. Will be hanging a second scrog net about 6 inches above the other to help guide the buds where I want them too. Cheers!

Good news! The pistils are a showing! The screen is about as full as I think I'll be able to manage too. Tomorrow marks day 1 of flower. I'll be topdressing a 50-50 mix of power bloom and 4-4-4. Also starting to pull fan leaves below the screen. I've done a couple handfulls so far. I won't be doing any major chops until a week in to flower, just to get an idea of how much they'll stretch before going hard with lollipopping.

I'll be bumping the light up to a 1000w HPS tomorrow too, as long as I can manage temps ok. I don't want things any hotter than 27c. I've been running 600w at about 24c. Fingers crossed!

I've switched over to flower - running 1000w hps and temps are sitting around 26c. Perfect! Installed a second scrog net to help with canopy management too. Hope to be trimming frosty sour diesel in about 10 weeks. I'll be topdressing tomorrow and keeping up with the cal-mag and seaweed until week 8.

Cheers!

I top dressed a 50-50 mix of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and Power Bloom (1 TBSP per gallon of medium each) on Saturday. I've also been culling a handful of leaves every day from below the canopy and things are finally starting to take on the appearance of a scrog.

The stretch is taking off too, with a few branches starting to peek through the second scrog net. I'll be using plant ties to try and prevent things from stretching too tall.

Mr. Canuck's method has been super simple so far, with the majority of the work being related to watering and canopy management. The nutes are just taking care of themselves. The plants look healthy and happy, and growth is taking place much faster than my previous Ocean Forest soil grow and PH perfect liquid nute grow. Time will tell if I can carry on successfully later in to flower. Cheers all, and happy growing!

Here's an update on the outdoor experiment. About 5 feet tall and pretty healthy looking. Going to have to do a solid pruning in a few weeks to prevent bud rot come flowering, everything is packed in to the tomato cage pretty tight.

What I thought was hail damage is most likely bug damage. The new growth has little holes in it too, and we haven't had hail in a while. The plant seems hardy enough to thrive through a little adversity. Cheers!

These ladies have been flowering for 6 days and have grown about half a foot since flipping. Sour diesel sure grows way lankier than the white widow, northern lights, and skywalker OG from last round.

I took another couple of handfulls of leaves from below the canopy and may take a few cuttings tomorrow from areas I don't think will make it to the promised land. Cheers!
