Sour Diesel, Second Grow, First Time In Coco!

Things are chugging along. Still dealing with height issues, but I may just make it.

I'm bending everything as best as I can. But I only have a few inches clearance. Some might end up a little toasted
Light bleach , burned , fox tail like a moo foo. You running at 1000hps? If so can you turn down?

I’m in. I have a couple Sour Diesel seeds. Just haven’t planted them yet because of the long flowering time. I was also going to try MrCanuck’s method but getting Gaia Green nutes would have been expensive because of shipping. So I’m doing an organic grow in FoxFarm Soil with FoxFarm dry organic nutes and URB. I’ve been using synthetic nutes for a couple years. Finally decided to go organic with clones I cut from the plants in my journal. I’m going to start a journal on those once I harvest a white widow in a few days so I can move them into a tent. Just sitting in a closet right now. They are still riding off the FoxFarm Farm Ocean Forrest/Happy Frog mix right now and just water. Going to top dress and water with URB this Sunday. They’ve been in these 5 gallon pots for 2 weeks

Looking good. Definitely flip early when you decide to plant those sour diesel seeds. The ones from Riserva Privada stretched close to 300%.

Day 27 of flower and I'm topdressing a 50-50 mix of gaia green 4-4-4 and power bloom again. My plants are healthy despite the daily beatings they have been taking. I've done as much supercropping as I think possible and have a few inches clearance from the light everywhere, and about 6-8 inches right below the bulb. My only remaining option will be to switch bulbs down to a 600. I'll keep a close eye on things and hope that the aircooled 1000 stays.

Mr Canucks method is super easy, and I hope to keep sailing through to harvest.

Day 30 of flowering. Cleared some dying leaves below the canopy and pulled a few fan leaves that were growing in to the light. The buds are starting to develop and my hands are super sticky after pulling leaves. 40 more days until suggested harvest window.

Day 33 and I was able to sneak a few pics in while the hps was warming up. Starting to see some trichs!

Here is another update on the outdoor experiment. The plant is at least 5 feet tall, and starting to flower. The weather should be ok for another couple of weeks. But the plant likely needs at least 8 more weeks to finish.

I'm either going to have to move it inside to finish - using 3 Phillips LED bars for lighting with no filtration for smell at all.

Or I can put up a makeshift greenhouse with 2x4's and poly and use a little propane heater to keep things toasty when the weather dips. I'm leaning towards this solution, as I won't need to worry about smells and the sun should do a better job than the LED bars.

Day 38 of flower.

The buds are starting to swell and the smell is becoming pretty pungent. There are a few buds directly under the light that are getting light bleached, but the others look good. I've supercropped for what feels like the hundredth time, but I'm starting to accept that a few buds will likely be lost. Ah well... lesson learned. Flip earlier with sativas!

I've also noticed some little pests the last couple of times I've been watering. I'm guessing fungus gnats or fruit flies. I scooped up a couple of ladybugs from the garden and let them loose inside the tent. Hoping the ladybugs feast on the larvae and nip this problem in the bud. Also hung a couple of sticky glue traps to catch em fully grown.

Got some fat looking nugs showing already. Keep a sharp eye on those gnats, I lost a plant and almost lost my whole crop to them, at first I thought I was just having nute deficiencies, turned out it was a fungus gnat infestation. I delayed my flowering by 2 weeks to deal with them and had to veg longer to help them recover and makeup for the lost plant. I just switched today so hopefully it's been dealt with. I used both the yellow stickies and mesquito dunk to kill the larvae.

Came home from work to discover a boatload of them trapped on the sticky paper. Will be doing a mosquito dunk tomorrow
Damn, I know the feeling. Good luck with it, hopefully you caught it quick enough before any significant damage was done.
I noticed a major decrease in the sticky traps after the first treatment. If you have more traps I'd use them, if not buy more to help keep them away from the flowers. Next time I'll know to use them as a prevention.

Day 40 of flower.

I took a mosquito dunk pellet and broke it up into 5 gallons of water and watered with it. I plan on taking another pellet and breaking it up and sprinkling it over the topsoil tomorrow. Everything I've read says it's 100% non toxic to humans and plants, so a little overkill sounds good right about now.

I'm using air-pots, and there are literally a thousand holes for these little buggers to crawl into and lay their eggs. I definitely didn't consider a fungus gnat infestation when buying them. I don't know if I'll use them for my precious indoor girls anymore, maybe tomatoes and outdoor plants from now on.

Hoping that I've started treating the problem soon enough to pull through to a decent harvest. Fingers crossed!

I read some where that some use nylon as a barrier for those pests when using those pots.
