The High Court in Pretoria will on Wednesday hear whether a case brought by the so-called dagga couple should be live streamed.
Julian Stobbs and Myrtle Clark brought the matter before the court after they were arrested in 2010 in their home for smoking and growing cannabis.
They claim the State is stalling the case by not allowing their non-profit organization Fields of Green to be permitted to live stream proceedings.
An expert brought by the couple, Dr Donald Abrams, says the decriminalization of cannabis usually decreases the interest among adolescents.
"I think it's a very effective treatment for a number of different conditions. In the world now, there are 10 countries that have totally legalized cannabis for medicinal use."
Stobbs said there's no confusion around why permission should be granted to live stream the court proceedings and the State is using delay tactics.
Stobbs said after two days, their lawyers haven't been able to put any expert witnesses on the stand.
"This man lives in San Francisco and he's got a flight booked out of here. The tactic of stalling and stalling and stalling is doing us a great injustice"
