Method 1 Update:

8:00 AM - still wearing her helmet
1667006486017.png

12:30 - I decided to pull off the dome. I also used a 1 ml syringe to try to push the helmet off with some water. She looked too spindly so I turned on the mars hydro lamp at the top of the tent.
1667006820968.png

8:30 - I'm afraid she may be damping off. I also switched to a smaller light and hung it closer.

Method 2 Update:

8:00 am - Pucks still look damp...
1667007284952.png

12:30 - pucks looking dry...
1667007329954.png

so I added 5 ml of RO water to each
1667007359677.png

8:00 PM - the Northern Lights still looks a bit dry so I added another 2 ml of water.
1667007502058.png

Method 3 Update:

8:00 AM - My sprout looks to have responded well to raising the light.
1667007593470.png

12:30 - I think I spot a bit of green in the Norhtern Lights on the left there...
1667007678612.png

8:00 PM - yuppers...a speck of green in there on the top left
1667007862509.png

zoomed in
1667007886602.png

And just for comparison from yd 9:00 PM to tonight 8:00 PM you can see how the self-watering system has re-hydrated some of the brownies...

Method 1 Update:

9am - The NL is looking pretty good but still more spindly than I'd like. The Purple Queen is still showing no signs of development. After looking back and pics of my Durban Poison grow (she was my best yet) I decided that the Mars Hydro isn't going to be too much light for the seedlings to handle so I switched back to that guy.
1667098370553.png

4pm - NL is looking stronger...still nothing from PQ.
1667098493170.png

7:30pm - NL looking good. I took a peep under the hood of the PQ and I think there's some movement going on in there so I haven't abandoned hope yet.
1667098596526.png

Method 2 Update:

9am - The pucks got 10ml RO water each
1667099218680.png

1667099236113.png

4pm - I got some movement from the NL although the seedling looked parched so she got another 10ml RO water. The PQ was still damp but no movement. Also since I switched the Mars Hydro light back on I was able to put the CFL over the pucks again too.
1667098912875.png

7:30pm - Look who decided to join the party...The PQ wants to live! Her puck was pretty parched so she got 20 ml RO water.
1667099145970.png

Update Method 3:

9am - I'm worried about these seedlings stretching too much so I turned on the 1000W Giixer light above them in addition to the seedling bulb.
1667099421806.png

1667099439778.png

4pm - They don't seem to mind the extra light at all :)
1667099522058.png

7:30pm - I think things are looking good in the Burpee Seed Starting system
1667099858490.png

And is that a speck of green from the Purple Queen?
1667099951199.png

Method 1 Update:

8:30am - NL still looking spindly. RQ still no movement...
1667182091710.png

1pm - Same
1667182140239.png

5pm - decided to go ahead and move the NL to the self-watering system. I should've taken pics but she has a nice looking root system. Still nothing out of the PQ.
1667182209109.png

830pm - PQ still showing no signs of life
1667182282941.png

Method 2 Update:

The NL looks off and a bit dry. She got 10ml of RO. PQ is fully out :) She only got 2 ml RO.
1667182412004.png

1667182434915.png

1pm - NL looking really weird. I think I gave her another 10ml RO.
1667182504362.png

5pm - I took a closer look at the NL and the seed was just sitting on top of the soil w/ its little radicle lying on top the soil. I made a new hole, pushed it back in and covered it up. I don't expect this one will survive :(

I moved the PQ over to the self-watering system. There was what looked like a single root protruding from the bottom of the puck.
1667182699531.png

8:30pm - No change in the NL
1667182752437.png

Method 3 Update:

8:30am - All looks well in the self-watering system.
1667182833198.png

1pm : still looking good...
1667182878710.png

5pm - The new neighbors moved in. The PQ from method 2 got an extra 10ml RO. The other PQ is looking a little odd and has me concerned.
1667182974436.png

8:30pm
The new neighbors look to be making themselves at home :)

Well today I did a dutch bucket marathon of which I should have pictures tomorrow. I'm itching to get these seedlings into the hydro system. I'm not going to update on the last 2 seeds unless something interesting happens. The PQ from method 1 and the NL from method 2 I just don't think are going anywhere.

7:45am - Just had enough time to snap the pic before heading off to the podiatrist. That last PQ looks like she's starting to rise up.
1667269285631.png

6:45pm - That last PQ just looks weird. Taking a closer look that seed casing just doesn't look like it's coming off. So, I used my syringe with RO to coax it off.
1667269424063.png

1667269447280.png

1667269468217.png

I'm nervous about that PQ. After zooming in on that last image it looks like the cotyledon looks really weird. I'm afraid one of them is stuck inside that seed shell and the other looks brown on the tip.
1667269813135.png

9pm - Something happened there because the cotyledon is pointing the opposite direction now. Hopefully she looks good in the morning. God willing tomorrow they all go in dutch buckets 🙏

Well today's update is good news and bad news. First the good news...that last PQ really perked up!

8:45 am - looking good except that middle NL has me concerned.
1667369145480.png

5pm - I really like the looks of things
1667369289639.png

9pm - Yikes!!! Mold has broken out on the a few of the brownies...including the middle NL I've been concerned about :(
1667369434230.png

1667369442175.png

That accelerated my transplanting schedule. I moved each of the ladies into her permanent home.

First up...the NL in coco coir...this did not go as I had hoped. When I pushed the dowel up through the hole in the tray the CC just crumbled leaving a limp plant.
1667369671425.png

Next up was the NL in rapid rooter. It came right out and had some nice looking roots. There wasn't much mold on the brownie so I just pulled the top part of it off and into the net cup she went. I used some of the perlite to prop her up.
1667369797711.png

1667369939503.png

The second NL in CC actually went pretty well

Moving day continued...

Purple Queen in peat puck couldn't have gone any better :)

PQ in CC couldn't have gone much worse :(

Closer look at the NL

and the Purple Queens
1667370307904.png

A mixed bag but all in all not too shabby! I'd soak those moldy rooters in H2O2 or diluted bleach to get them clean.
I just pitched them...don't want to take any chances!

24 hours later and the girls each look pretty content. I'll label them tomorrow to make tracking easier. Making the rounds:

I've given each plant a single shot of 1/4 strength Dyna-Gro GROW (7-9-5) from a spray bottle at 9am and 9pm. I also have my automated feed system pumping PH'd RO for 15 minutes every 3 hours.

Each bucket has a single feed line w/ a 2 GPH drip emitter so that's about 1/2 gallon every 3 hours. The new buckets are a bit bigger than the old ones and hold about a gallon of solution in the bottom when the buckets are empty. I'm not sure how much less they hold when filled with perlite.

I have a DIY 6" intake fan pushing air from the cabin through a carbon filter into the tent. Input CFM is unknown. Once my 6" to 4" splitter comes in I'll use my Neverest RV-B 6" 412 CFM fan to push air into both tents, but until then it's too much for the single tent and blows it up like a balloon.

I have a Vivohome 4" 195 CFM exhaust fan in the attic that goes to a carbon filter and then a 4" to 4" splitter. 1 output just vents in the attic and the other is routed back into the cabin with a blast gate. I'm hoping when the air gets cold and dry this winter it will help me keep the temperature and humidity up.

Inside the tent I have 2 6" clip on fans for circulating air and I'm awaiting arrival of an oscillating vortex fan. There is also a cold mist humidifier in the tent. I have an automated system that reads temp / humidity and calculates VPD. It uses the VPD calculation to control the exhaust fan and humidifier. The intake fan runs 24/7 to keep fresh air in the tent.

For lighting I have 4 Giixer 1000W Plus Full Spectrum High PAR Value Simulated Sunlight LED Grow Lights. I'm currently only using 2 of them and the plants are getting between 17-26K lumen.

Once they go into full veg I'll post strain details and start making more regular reports. I'm planning to update once weekly at a minimum so we'll see how that goes :)

The system got a couple nice upgrades today too. In the image above you can see the new oscillating fan. I had to use my gnome to shield NL 1 as she is directly in front of the fan.

Each of the ladies got a single spray of light nutes twice again today. I also had to add a gallon of water to the reservoir and added about 10ml / gallon of Hormex.

I'm also thinking about running Hydrogaurd during this grow to help keep things clean.

This weekend I plan on doing a reservoir change and starting the feed schedule.
