Stem drying from the bottom up

I had two plants, they have little more than 2 weeks, both of them started drying at the bottom of the stem :/ the plant seems fine after the dried stem, but it'll just die in a week.

I have no clue why this is happening, seems weird to me, could it be lack of watering? The roots seemed healthy, it was just the stem from the the ground that starts to dry :/

I tried cutting the second plant by the healthy stem and treat it as a clone, it's probably going to die but, last ditch effort, might as well give it a try.

I'm really down over this :(

Edit: I'm doing it outdoors, could it be that the soil got too hot? It might be the only explanation I can find, the roots were fine, maybe because of moisture, but the stem propably got too hot with the direct sunlight and since it has only air around it, probably dried up, my two cents.
