I'm cleaning up my greenhouse for this year's crop. Here's a dried stem from last year. The crop was a bust because of a hard freeze in early October. That's a 55 gallon drum and a man's large glove.

Dam, that stern is pretty thick! What happened to them? They didn't mature, because of the cold?

I had to cut them too early, so they didn't mature.
