Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

I'm going to start this journaling adventure by stating my thoughts about this community and what it's been like to be a part of this amazing collection of wonderful folks.

This forum has brought me to tears but also many good laughs, it's definitely not just a budporn site. You guys/gals have been so helpful and kind to me and the hundreds of new members that have joined since my humble beginnings here. I am truly appreciative of the grow help and life stories that you all share with me, makes it much easier for one to cope with seclusion from others while I grow my plants in secret. If it wasn't for folks like lol all of you.. I would have not pursued this quest for good smoke this far.

I am now on my way to being self sufficient, and that's my ultimate goal. There's much less need for myself to go out and pay top dollar for crap street cannabis anymore. I've got a ways to go still, but hopefully with some guidance and support from the members of this great site, I may get there sooner than I imagine.

So with that said, thank you RTK, Dennise, Sweetsue, Rifleman, Smokiebear, Glimmergrass, Heirloom, Pigeons, and the many many others that I could go on for an entire page. Thank you to the new members aswell, you make me want to learn more, so that I might be able to help out like so many have done for me. Let the cycle of knowledge continue.

Ok on to the journal, this will be an all encompassing perpetual adventure. I will be catching you guys up on my current plants and plans. I'll introduce my setup and detail my strategies when it comes to getting started on my indoor grow. I've made lots of mistakes and just as many triumphs, so be sure that this is definitely going to be...

AN ADVENTURE TO BE A PART OF, DON'T MISS OUT :welcome:

I've got over 250 pics to upload and describe. Stay tuned folks it's gonna be a great show, I'll try and get things started as quickly as possible. Thanks for stopping by... :ciao:

KiG everyone :green_heart:Cheers

FYI I'll link this to my signature once I've got things going. Thanks you all for the friendships

re: Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

Hey there Snid! How's it going? Just happen to see this in my browse this morning and thought I would stop in and have a peek. Mind if I pull up a seat at the front of the class?? I of course am one of the new members here on 420 that you have spoken of and certainly up for a learning experience. This place is like one big happy family and I am glad I chose to sign up here after browsing several different forums for weeks!! Great place to learn, live and laugh :thumb:

I look forward to seeing the posts come flying in on this one! :cheer: You may see me pretty regularly lol
Best of luck!

re: Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

Let's start with the setup and the laboratory.

I've got two Tents side by side. One is a Mars Hydro 27"x27"x63" and the other is a 32"x32"x63". The vent holes almost line up. Which I'll utilize, I'll describe it in a sec.
Here's the Tents...
20160318_211901.jpg
20160226_1712021.jpg

I've also got a propagation and temporary vegetation area built out of a shelving unit cut in half.
Here's the unit...
20160131_135859.jpg

Top shelf has a 4 x HO T5's fixture with 3 x 6500k tubes and 1 x 2700k tube. There is 6" of grow space, until they reach the light a 7"
1454272677520-1518895981.jpg

Bottom area has 4 x cfl fixtures, capable of y-splitters, and up to 16 bulbs (I'll use 8 max) of mixed spectrum.
1454272728514-41806633.jpg

As for ventilation and air refreshment I've created this system. It's a flowing system that ventilates both Tents.
Here's my *current* ventilation system...
Intake vent with variable speed controller (160cfm) I taped in on there pretty good, eh?
20160227_193128.jpg

Inside tent #1 (auto tent) I've installed a "relief" port in case heat gets to high in the tent. It's got a cardboard toggle switch. Lol.
20160227_193156.jpg

Top side of that is a type of air purifier's carbon filter cut to cover the hole. It's opaque and allow air flow. Perfect.
20160227_193140.jpg

Still in the auto tent, which is pressurized by the intake, this vent goes to the other tent. I've since installed a CPU fan to help things along. It is also got a double layered carbon filter like the one above, to keep light from getting in/out, just air.
20160227_193209.jpg

Now we get into tent #2 (photo tent) where the vent comes in from the auto tent.
20160227_193238.jpg

That leads down to canopy level where oscillator fans spread it around.
20160227_193307.jpg

I've also got a passive intake in the photo tent to keep things drier at night during flower period.
20160227_193331.jpg

Then out the tent we go with the aid of an exhaust fan (160cfm), currently no carbon filter required, but I have one on my wishlist.
20160227_193404.jpg

Ive also got this to toy with once I get a carbon filter. Much more power.. Hahaha.. 400+cfm baby.
20160402_115452.jpg

:green_heart:I'd like to thank a special someone for this great big fan. You know who you are and God bless you my dear. :thanks:

OK, now onto the lights. As you saw I've got dual 48x5 Watt Mars Hydro Reflectors, they cover 2'x2' each and draw 105 watts each from the wall. More than enough for my auto tent.
I've also acquired a Mars Hydro Mars400, which runs about 200 watts from the wall. This one is being used in the photo tent.
Jason from Twilight-group LEDs has graciously handed out free lights. I am one of the lucky members who got one. Thanks Jason. It will be a 288x3 Watt panel. (864watts) I imagine will draw around 400 wall watts.
Screenshot_2016-04-02-13-15-06.png

I've also got tons of cfl strands ready to be installed wherever they're needed. And about 50 cfls bulbs... Lol that's what happens when you grow with them, you can never have enough.

I've also created a CannaCan © my version of a bucket grow. I used an old garbage can and some strip LEDs (6500k) and a single bulb at the top. This is for super side projects. One failed already.. Haha. Forgot to turn the light switch on after I set the timer.
But here's my creation...
20160210_222357.jpg
20160210_222326.jpg
20160210_221829.jpg

Lol... That's my boredom getting the best of me.

Let's take a look at the laboratory. With all these plants organization is essential. I've moved in a work area and weighing area, so I can easily move pots around and do all the measurements and analysis I need to for each one. I've installed a broad spectrum of light bulbs in the laboratory so I can a good look at foliage for deficiencies.

Here's the work area...
This is the nute station, I've got a good majority of the Advanced Nutrients line, And if not I've got something similar to supplement. I've also got my all Ph solutions, solo cups, perlite, rooting hormones, and all my tools at hand.
20160326_093311.jpg

On to the weighing station, this is where the girls spend most of their time outside the Tents. I've got an extra desk lamp above for better lighting. I will preen and clip them here aswell.
20160402_115317.jpg

Water station is next, there's two Buckets. Left bucket has a circulation pump and is topped up with water whenever I transfer any to the other bucket. This allows for the chlorine evaporation and what not... In the right bucket, which has only 24h+ water in it, there are two air stones oxygenating the bucket.
20160402_115306.jpg

And finally the note taking, every OCD grower has them. Plus it is great for tracking their progress and environmental conditions.
20160402_115340.jpg

These notes are all thanks to my new grow toys.
My Ph and EC pens...
20160402_115421.jpg

Let's get to the fun stuff, I had gone a seed buying binge. I couldn't choose which strains I wanted do I got a poop ton of various breeders and strains.
Here's my seed vault...
20160212_140210.jpg

This is the style of pots I will use for now. The largest are 5 gallon for the photoperiods after up Potting a few times. And the smaller are about 3 gallon pots for the autos. I've drilled dozens and dozens of holes I the bottom portion of the pots.
20160304_153306.jpg

Well that does it for the tour today. I hope you all can give me some good ideas of how I can improve my setup. It's a work I progress, I'm constantly finding new things to add or change. Please feel free to comment on anything you see that is wrong, I'm a big boy and I can take it when I make mistakes.

Welcome once again to Stinky Snid's Nursery and Flower Shop. The doors are always open, please come in and smell the fresh flowers, and don't forget...

Keep It Green Everyone :green_heart:Cheers

re: Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

Looks like it's all covered .. Subbed of course ! I need to read more on led technology and this will currently be the only grow I'm following using it, a simple question I have of course ..? Are the yields as good, obviously I know the answers dependant on quality of light. But I just mean in your opinion ? Thanks

re: Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

Hey, I thought I was the only one buying mgb by the gallons. I'm gonna take a spot over by the wall out of the way. I don't want to get blamed when the bong water spills.

Doing good Dick. Lol. I'm glad you made it. I hope to have a few nuggets of knowledge to pass on. Let me know if anything needs deeper explanation. Thanks for being here :ciao:
Front and center waiting for the big show. With a set up like that, it should be a big show.
I aim to please, sometimes I wish I had a big grow room. To. Immerse myself in plants all day. But this is just fine for now... Welcome to the show, may I show you to your seat... Your blocking the view. :wood:
Im in brother!! This thus far looks amazing, cant wait to see whats next!!!
Its gonna be a fun journey together. Buckle up cuz here comes the ladies. :slide:
Woohoo!! In on page 1!:hookah: I'll just pull up a seat and chill for a bit.
Sounds good Mouser, hope you enjoy the show. We've only just begun. ::blunt:

The yields are very adequate. I pulled an Oz off of each of my two harvested autos so far. (from my first journal) the buds were much denser and tighter nodes than I had with cfls. And with the big bonus of much less heat. I'm drawing (currently) less wall watts now than I did using my cfl contraption. By far an upgrade from cfls, but on the other hand... Mh and hps are still the best for growing hands down. It's a matter of heat and power draw that had deterred me from the HID fixtures, all relating to having a stealth growing environment.
Hey, I thought I was the only one buying mgb by the gallons. I'm gonna take a spot over by the wall out of the way. I don't want to get blamed when the bong water spills.
Yeah... I spoil myself sometimes. I got the 4 litre jugs since I figure I would use them every feeding as the others are additives and are only used part of the grow. Plus shipping was only a couple bucks more compared to a 1 litre jug. Thanks for coming by the shop, the Stinkier the better... Roscoe can come hang out with my fart machine Doberman, jeeze I'm gagging on one as I type. :surrender:
Yeahhh brother Snid! Count me in too my friend! :high-five:
You got it Stihl!! So glad you found the shop. :welcome:

That will go for all of you, welcome to my adventure :ciao:

So what I'll do is this, I'll go plant by plant with timelined photos getting each one caught up to date. I'll give brief descriptions of what I'm doing and what the plants are doing. Then once we're all up to date I'll be posting daily updates as much as possible.

Here's to a grand opening day for Stinky Snid's Nursery and Flower Shop. KiG everyone :green_heart:Cheers

Very nice setup you have there Snid! I like the idea of how you used the one exhausting system for both your tents, very good idea. Quite the collection of nutrients and supplements as well. I am still in the KISS method stage for now, no need to go confusing myself to much all at once right? haha Once I get a better hang on the indoor growing scene I would hope to advance much like you have with your system and keep it small as well.
Seems like you had a good start on things here anyways though. Cant wait to see what else you have in store for us and get some conversation going in here! Seems like I hit the right spot to even meet some other experienced growers like yourself. Thanks for having me! Best of luck, take care

Let's get caught up on my Alani, Hawaiian meaning Orange (the fruit) tree. She is my third auto to germinate on this run but first to be displayed. My Leialoha is on showcase in my other Cropking journal contest entry. I'll include her later on. Now let's take a look at my Orange tree, Alani :geek:

Strain : White Widow Auto. Feminized, From AMS (Amsterdam marijuana Seeds)

Current age : 55 days, day 1 above ground Feb. 5th
apr3al7_6ph6_2.jpg

Let's see how we got there, follow along the timeline and enjoy the show.

Week one -
Started off in a solo cup with the same soiless mix as her final pot. I presoaked the pot for 48 before transplanting the seedling in. I had soaked it with a seedlings dose of G/M/B (2ml per litre) and some calmag. The cup was under my T5's for a week, then I moved her into the final pot once I saw a root in the holes of the solo cup. Just plain water around the circumference of the plant as needed. :goof:

It's time for some training sessions, I'll wait a few days more after her topping before stressing her out with training. I've been bending the shoots gingerly to soften them for later staking. Using coated wire (14ga) I staked her top shoots nearly horizontal on the first try. This when I picked up a good bathroom scale to weigh my pots to know when to feed. She got a full dose feeding of vegetation Nutes, using 2 litres of water. :morenutes:

Holy cow I made it to the first page! I'm going to be sticking around this one for sure! :high-five:
If you switch the view mode to 50 posts per page it's much easier to be on it. Lol. :wood:
Hey Snid, I am in on this one, Nice set up:volcano-smiley:
Thanks Densenug, it been a work in progress for almost a year now. Adding things here and there, improving other things. It's fun as @#&! Enjoy the grow brother :welcome:
Very nice setup you have there Snid! I like the idea of how you used the one exhausting system for both your tents, very good idea. Quite the collection of nutrients and supplements as well. Kiss is definitely a good way to start, this is my third grow I suppose and I've used all my knowledge to be better the next time. That said, the right nutrients at the right time make a huge difference. Check my first journal as an example. The plants that got the most of my premium nutes were and are by far bigger and denser. That could also be genetics since they all had different genotypes, all flowering at different times. Which could also have been attributed to the extra nutes. I'd say get a 2 or 3 part full spectrum nutrient to start. The GO box is great for beginners also. It's all about how much $, right? Or you could go organic and use blood and bone meal, with manures. Your call Dick, glad you joined me here...:ciao:

KiG :green_heart:Cheers

Now let me introduce Kalua, meaning the second child.. As the name suggests she was second to germinate.

Strain : Pineapple Express Auto. Feminized from Barney's Farm

Current age : 62 days day 1 above ground Feb. 4th
apr3ka.jpg

Let's see how we got here...

Week one -
started her off in a Solo cup. In the solo cup under t5's for the first week. No water since I presoaked the soil pretty good before putting my taproot in.
Day 4
20160207_091735.jpg

Week two -
I cut the solo cup in half and placed it into the pot, presoaked with nutes. I Wiggled her stem some to strengthen it.. Just minor petting.

Week Nine-
I've cut back all the contaminated budsites, in hopes that the top Colas will get the extra juice to grow bigger. She got downsized into a more fitting pot. Not much left to do but watch as she get frosty.

Now we're are live with Kalua, I'm going to have to really enjoy the 2 grams I get from her top Colas. I'm hoping I've stressed her something fierce that she may pollinate herself. Can you light poison an auto?

Glad you've all made yourselves comfortable, that's plant #2...

Thanks for stopping by, KIG Everyone :green_heart:Cheers
