It's been a few years since I was on these forums and I have to say, it feels good to be back! I got myself a nice budget vivosun setup from amazon. 32" X 32" X 63" tent with their VS1000 (100 watt) LED lamp. I'm running a hulkberry autoflower from Royal Queen Seeds, as the title says its my first try at auto flowers. I'm pretty deep into this grow at this point so I'll do one big post to get up to speed at first.

Strain/s: Hulkberry Autoflower
Genetic Makeup: Hybrid Sativa
Pot/Bucket Size: 3 Gallon
Tent Size: 32" X 32" X 63"
How Many Plants: 1
Environment: Indoor
Stage: Flowering
Medium: 75% Fox Farms Ocean Forrest 25% Perlite
Lights: 100 Watt LED
Nutrients: Fox Farms Nutrients
Room/Tent Temperature: 70° - 80°F
Relative Humidity: 50% - 65%
Pests: None
Watering: Two to three times weekly, one feeding per week

I planted one seed into a 3 gallon fabric pot on 4/26/24. It sprouted on 4/30.
One week in on 5/7:

5/14/24 first dose of veg nutes at 1/4 strength:

5/16/24 first pistols

5/21/24 week three of veg:

5/28/24 first week of flower:

6/3/24 week two of flower:

6/11/24 week three of flower

6/18/24 week four of flower. I noticed I was developing a deficiency here that I thought was a calmag issue, but turned out to be a phosphorus deficiency, so this week I went to full strength tiger bloom, all other nutes still at half strength:

This brings us to this week.
6/24/24 week five of flower:

I think that I'm about two to three weeks from chopping at this point. Im trying to find a reliable way to check the trichs, but my hands are less than steady so the usb microscope I got isn't cutting it. I think I'll just stick to my 30x-60x jeweler's loop. I'm excited to be back, hope you enjoy the read!

Did a trichome check today to see what I could see, but my shaky ass hands and a usb microscope don't mix that well 😅
They look clear to milky to me with about 50% of the hairs turning orange, but maybe someone with better eyes can chime in.

I'm still thinking about chopping in two to three weeks, but I want some other opinions so that I know when to flush/go straight water. This plant is 8 weeks from sprout, RQS says harvest in 8-9 weeks from sprout which I know is wishful thinking but I'm still close by their accounts. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You were here long before me, but welcome back anyway - plant's looking superb
My eyes are no better than yours I'm sure, but to me they have that white look; not sparkly, not dark

Thanks! Yeah that's what I thought also, I'll keep an eye on it. Hopefully once there are a few amber trichs the microscope will pick them up even if I'm shaky.

week six of flower is here for this lady, I went with full strength nutrients this week, I'm curious to see how she takes them, it'll be the first time I've fed her full strength nutes the whole grow. I can't tell if the buds are fattening up or not but I think there is still two weeks left on this one before chopping. Here are some pictures!

sorry for the blurry trichome pictures, but that's about as good as I can get them

I did a trichome check today on a lower branch and the top cola. Im starting to see some amber, so I'm thinking I'll feed this week (tomorrow). Which would be the start of week seven of flower, and then watch for changes. I'm thinking this lady comes down early next week, but I'm open to opinions.

Week seven of flower starts today, I'm thinking this will be the last week before this lady gets the chop. Fed her with full strength nutes 1 tsp calMag, 3 tsp big bloom, and 1 tsp tiger bloom to a gallon of water ph'd to about 6.8. I'm starting to see amber trichs all over the plant but they are still in the minority. One of the flowers has proved too heavy for her branch and was laying over to the point of snapping the branch. I caught it in time to save the branch by wiring it up to the tent, but that means this lady is in the tent from now until the end, so photo angles are limited.
Here are some pictures.

I'm open to opinions on my chopping schedule or just stop by and take a look! Either way enjoy your day!

I've not had much experience of foxtails, but when I did, the plant just kept pumping out flowers when she should be finishing - the foxtails never ripened properly
Chunky plant you got there :thumb:

I think I'm in that situation. This is week 11 overall for this auto flower, I've had some temperature swings due to heatwaves here in the east coast, so the tent temps have ranged from the low 70sF to the mid 80sF so I think that is whats causing the foxtailing, although the other plant in the same tent is not foxtailing at all so I wonder if its genetics

I put it down to too much light and/or feed in late flower, so now I reduce both slightly when I think they are ready to ripen
I would imagine genetics are a factor too

well shit I went to full strength nutrients last week after being at half strength for the whole grow. The light intensity has been at 100% the whole grow so I don't know if that's the issue, although I haven't raised the lights in like three weeks so who knows

Other way round works for me - full feed/light through veg/flower until the last 2-3 weeks, then reduce feed/light
Perhaps this is why I don't have much experience of foxtails
I surmise that in veg, you wanna get the leaves pumped up with goodies for the plant to use in flower - it's too late at the end

Ok, thanks for that info. Everything I read about autos said to use half strength nutrients since they grew so fast, but I'll apply your logic for my next auto grow!

did a trichome check today (7/14) on the top cola. I'm seeing some amber trichs and mostly milky. I don't see any clear ones.

I'm thinking about taking this lady out of the flower tent on Tuesday 7/16, which would be the start of week 8 flower 79 days from sprout. And putting her into two days of darkness in the dry tent before doing the chop. The problem I'm faced with is its supposed to be 99F here on Tuesday. My dry tent temps are hovering between 67 - low 70s with humidity swings from as low as 47% to around 60-62%. I have a window unit a/c that I am using ducting to get cool air into the dry tent and I have a small fan circulating the air inside it, but I have no exhaust fan setup for it. How bad are these conditions for drying? My temps are a bit outside of my control as the most I can do is close the door to the room the tent is in, but I work in the same room during the day so there will be some ambient heat in the room. This is the first grow I've done in a long time and I'm worried about the dry. Any advice would be great.

Did another check this morning and I'm still leaning towards taking this girl down tomorrow. She is pretty floppy and I'm worried about branches breaking, and buds overlapping/touching my other plants. There is good airflow in that tent but the temps are high, around 84-85F, and the humidity is in the 65-67% range.

As you can see this girl is laying over the other plants a bit and is just in general starting to fall under its own weight

These trichome shots are from a couple of the lower bud sites, not as many amber trichs but still a few

Do it she's ready :yahoo:
