Super Lemon Haze & Sourcream / NFT / 400w HPS / June 2009

yeah air circulation is definately ur friend without a doubt. Its just questionable whether co2 affects the quality of the bud. Ive read quite alot on this, although im no expert, from what I have read co2 has great effects on the growth of plants in early stages but there are question marks as to whether it actually reduces potency of the bud and makes the plant put more energy into growth.

I'd be quite interested to see your nft grow when u start.

Anyhow keep it up.

OK so first of all buy a contactor/relay, you can pick them up off ebay for around 20-30 english pounds so that probaly converts to around 50-60 dollars. It will be money very well spent as it will eliminate timer failure altogether. Better to purchase one than lose crop.

The plants look quite stretched to me, even though they are sativas. Try lowering light. 50cm from plants.

Your plants will still grow when you put them into flower, thats why depending on strain its best to start flower early in order to allow for extra space as flower grows and blooms. I had the very same problem on my first grow. If you can keep lights as close as possible without burning plants it will prevent stretching and keep height growth more under control. Next time maybe pinch the top before you start flower, not only will this slow growth but it will also mean having 2 or 4 nice colas which isnt a bad thing.

How far are they into flower? I think you are going to have major space issues by the time grow comes to an end.

Anyway good luck. Next time start flower sooner.

Thanks for the comments!

I know, i should get a contactor. Maybe for the next grow as i can't afford to invest anymore on this one. Never used a HPS light before so i just trusted the specs of the timers.. They are pretty optimistic i see.

Couldn't lower the lamps anymore as the temperatures got too high. I had it around 40cm from the tops. I already burn a couple of leaves for leaving the lamp to low :-/

Yes but i never seen them grow almost 8times taller in the flower. THey've been now about one month in 11/13 flowering "mode". They shouldn't grow much more as the root space is limited, but if they do i need to do some bondage on the girls..

i would have to totally disagree with steov, even though i love England. like my second home, or maybe third. lol.

i dont think co2 will make a marked improvement in the veg stage, however used properly in flower, along with lots of light, heavier feeding, and warmer temps (in the upper 80's) it can help you to produce massive colas, of course you will only perform as good as your weakest link, nutes, temps, light, co2, etc.

man that sure is a lot of run after flower. maybe need more blue light? can you add some flouro? maybe for next time, it might help them stay shorter.

Ya man, thanks for the comments!

I feed them with medium-heavy nutes, my temps are just below 90F, i have the CO2 system and i support the HPS with 144w of PURple&high temp blue fluros. I should have the whole package there. I counted that the larger SLH has over 50 flowers there, i wonder if it's gonna be strong enough to carry the weight and i'm preparing to build a support system for the plants.. Here's two more pictures taken with only the fluros on.

Yeah they are growing incredibly tall for flower stage. They look very stretched to me but maybe its the strain. Is it an indoor or outdoor breed? ive never grown it myself. Is it pure sativa? Its insane like. As for co2 there are different opinions but i will myself listen and continue to educate myself in every aspect of growing, because growing is the way forward.

Supposed to be indoors breed, Super Silver Haze x Lemon Skunk, so it's around 20/80 indica/sativa. Cannabis Cup 2008 winner...

Thank you! They're looking good indeed!

looking good, has it got a purple tint to it? or is that the camera?

Thanks! It's the purple T5HO tubes that i have in the room that make the photos look purpleish! I have to turn off the HPS in order to take clearer pictures without that annoying interference. I might be conducting my next grow by using only fluros in order to keep the temps low, but let's see. I really love them.

Main cola forming up nicely in the SLH. Not much progress on the other two girls yet. I'm starting to consider moving the plants to another location where i could flower them without hurry, but let's see what's gonna happen! Looks like the sour cream is developing much slower than expected so i would really need some extra time :)

Hello again! A time for a big photo update, i took pics with my system camera, let's see if they are any good!

Here is a pic of the sourcream, so that you can see how big she has become. A nice tree, thinking about re-vegging it as it is so pretty. Maybe someone can help me on that?

I took the healhier SLH out for a walk, and she agreed to pose for me:

Here you can see the differences in fenotypes. First one is from the stretched SLH, the latter two are from the other. Both have been in the growroom exactly the same time:

Crystals forming nicely, eh?

re-veg-ing?

so easy.

when you harvest, just leave buds. i like to harvest the tops of each branch and the top of the plant, and leave the first buds from the meristem as high up on the plant as i can without sacrificing the best bud. maybe halfway up depending on how big it is.

then go back to 18-24 hours of light, or whatever you veg at and wait for like a month, new branches with new growth will form right out of the buds and your vegging. get her big and reflower.

i have used this method for extra harvest a few times before. never failed me.

buds are looking good. keep it up.

Ok thank you for your explanation, I think i got the idea! I really like the genetics of this plant, and i would like to keep it, maybe take a cutling after re-veging as it seems to suit my growroom perfectly. She's a bit slow though, but let's see if it's worth all the extra time.. I have high hopes, but this is a new strain to me. It smells alot like NYC Diesel tho, not specifically a pleasant smell. SLH is smelling like a lemon candy, and i really like that :)
