Super Lemon Haze & Sourcream / NFT / 400w HPS / June 2009

Had some misfortune while being out of town. The ducting on the cooltube had failed leading to excessive raise in temperature in the growroom causing the plants to droop and dry. Decided to move them into another location, and began a recovering operation. Now they seem to be recovering, although hopes aren't very high on total recovery. Furthermore, the main cola of the SLH had snapped 90 degrees, had to duct it together again. It's not dead yet, so chances are it'll make it. Fingers crossed.

I'll add some photos later if the plants recover, right now i'm too devastated to take any.

Some budporn. Can't wait to harvest the fat one!

Quite nice and sticky bud. Smells better than lemon candy! Yumm.

Sorry to hear of all your difficulties NFT.

Thanks for the empathy! Some luck I do have, most of the trichomes were already cloudy in the main cola, so i decided to cut it off, hang it upside down, and then i'll dry cure it for 2-3weeks to get the most out of it. So hopefully I will still get decent smoke out of it!

The other plants' flowers develop slooowly.. i hope they didn't get pollinated before i managed to castrate the balls. I should switch to 250w HID in this new growroom or think of some other way to lower the temps by at least 6degrees celsius..

Hard for me to get perspective on the pics. Could you put like a ruler or common item in the shots? How far are you into flower? Has stretching stopped at this point?

Oh, good idea! I will include a coke bottle or a lighter to the next set of photos.

The plants have been in 11/13 light mode for exactly ten weeks now, although the lanky SLH and sour cream began flowering a bit later than the faster developing SLH that snapped off recently.

I dried the snapped off cola, and it's now dry curing in a glass jar, hopefully it will make up for the missing 1,5weeks it should've been in the flowerin still. The rest of the plant is now being flushed, and i'll still wait for the trichs to turn more amber which means hopefully one more week of flowering still, adding up to 11 weeks which should be enough for this hybrid.

The lanky SLH smells alike to the fat one (like shit at this point) but the buds are fluffy and scarse. The sour cream is smelling better, and it has multiple colas which i hope will get more dense still, i'm planning to flower them for three more weeks, adding up to the total of 13 weeks of flowering.

I also put the mother plant to the flowering room as i don't have a possibility to vegetate it anymore (it's getting too cold outside). I still have one clone vegging outside, but i'll have to put it in the flowering room too as soon as I harvest the SLH, as i don't have any room in there at the moment.

Cool man, thanks. I'm sure it will be nice to have your bud soon.

Do you have fans that blow on the plants? They sure get lanky; do they need help to stand up well?

Yes I have one fan blowing in the room, although it doesn't have room to really oscillate.. i should get one of those tower fans i think!

They stand up on their own, except for the smaller SLH that snapped off, i had to put a bamboo stick to support it. after i harvest it i'm probably tying thelanky SLH to the stick for support. Luckily the stretching has stopped some weeks ago so it's not a problem anymore. I don't get it - all of the plants were as close to the light but one of them decided to stretch twice as much still!

Btw, i took a toke of the SLH, and it is really worth all this effort :smokin:
although the taste sucked as i didn't have a chanche to flush it before drying it.

Must be the genetics that encourage the stretching you saw.

I believe you!

How long flushing would you recommend before harvesting? I've been flushing now for a week.

Oh it would be a crime for me to tell you as I haven't completed my first grow yet. I am not personally convinced of flushing; it may be an "old wives tale". I am wary of practically anything that is treated as gospel. The idea is when flushing for harvest, you are trying to have the plant use up nutrients stored in the plant. Why not try harvesting a plant without flushing then flush the rest for a couple of days and harvest them? You could then see if you have the popping and hissing sounds when smoking it and if the non-flushed bud's taste is adversely affected. My feeling is if you have the nutrients properly supplied to the plant, the flush isn't needed. I know that puts me in the minority here in this forum and I could be wrong, but I'm not planning on flushing my crop. We will see if that was the correct decision.

I harvested the rest of the first SLH last weekend after flushing it for almost 2weeks and i can tell you that the it smells and tastes soo much better than the non-flushed SLH. Very nice high and STRONG haze-like effect! This became one of my favorites. Didn't yield much, but it's probably mostly caused by my poor skills and misfortunes during the growing. Total maybe 30grams. The other SLH became hermafrodite so i won't expect this much from her but we'll see, i'll harvest her too in a week or so.

The sour cream is looking good, but not ready yet. I don't know why but she seems to be veery slow to mature. I'm gonna give her 2 more weeks, after that she has beeen in flowering for 13weeks. If the smoke is not good.. well.. i'm disappointed as i have two more of those coming up :bong:

I think i needs to add one indica in there for comparison.

damn bro, what is that like an ounce?
I mean you cant complain about having weed and meds

I too have a 400W hps, and it seems that if you really need a Perfect Grow w/no problems to get a respectible yield

But i think we need to dissect your grow room and get it running more efficiently.
Considering Lighting,Ventilation,Temps,and Overall Space

this can help us both
