First and foremost, I do not sell anything, I do this for my own medicine and what I have left over I donate to folks in need.
I have tried a few different methods for making CO/FECO. All have been with either oils (olive or coconut) or alcohol. At present I am using the frozen alcohol method for FECO extraction.
I make FECO from every grow I do. And I usually use around the same amount of buds and trim in each session. I use 14 zips of buds and what ever sugar leaf trim and untrimmed popcorn, usually 4 to 6 zips. I also triple wash. It makes a beautiful amber oil, that varies in color dependent on the strain.
I have over 20 session and average around 70 grams per session, with a low of 62 grams and a high of 96 grams per pound of cannabis. I do two grows a year with one or two different strain each year.

What returns are you folks seeing?

Thanks for sharing this! Later this year I'll be doing something very similar, using a portion of my crop for a little bit of this and a little bit of that :)

Can you comment on how your patients accepted the medicine in regards to potency? I added some oil to get it down to approx 10mg per capsule and thought that was the easiest thing to administer but I'm curious to hear real world examples from folks in this thread about proper dosing when you share your medicine with friends. Perhaps a dual strat is best, have the full potency in the syringes and diluted for caps.

Typical yields are 4-6 grams of CCO per ounce of buds, so at an average of 5 per you’re right in that range. That 96 grams had to make you smile broadly in appreciation. Do you recall what strain you used for that run? I’d expect that volume from something incredibly sticky, like GG#4.

Good work. Keep it up. I don’t think there are many things in life more satisfying than giving it away. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I can share that for regular dosing I find 10 mg doses easiest to use, with 5 mg capsules as a backup. With both infused and concentrated oils it’s not all that difficult to individualize the dose strength.

For more serious conditions like cancer treatment I’d fall back on CCO processed into the appropriate biobomb formulations and go with suppositories, using all the competitive inhibition practices I could.

I am not able to test my products, except by self admin. I give them whole multi strain FECO in jars, usually in 25 grams amounts. I instruct them in dosing or if they want I dilute the oil with coconut oil at 1/10 grams or 1/20 grams, FECO/coconut oil. If giving whole FECO I instruct them to start lite, 0.05 ml and work up. I myself take 0.2 ml/day or 200 mg, will fill a one ML syringe with .2 ml and it put it directly under the tongue or between my lower lip and gum. Depending on the person, I will make caps for them, but prefer them doing so themselves.
The FECO I consume is a mix of strains, I started a jar a number of years ago and with each harvest I make oil and add about 80% of it to the jar, the other 20% I put in separate containers to be blended and given away. The 80% jar has at least traces of every strain I have used, probably 7 to 8 different strains. I try an keep at least 100 grams on hand, I do this just in case it is needed for "an emergency", I want to have it on hand just in case I have a need to take large doses for a serious ailment. Did this a few years ago for a prostrate issue, did 90 grams in 60 days.
All the folks I work with, and the list changes all the time, know that the amount I am giving them is not enough for their treatment but it gets them started and will show if there is improvement. From that point I put them in contact with a long time friend in NorCal who grows medical and makes oil. He sells a 7 indica strain oil at very reasonable prices, and depending on the person and their condition he may give it away.
I have no method for have my oil tested as I live in a unfriendly cannabis state. When I self test I will take 0.5 to 0.75 grams of oil and if it puts me in bed for awhile I know it is good to go, LOL.
The latest person I gave oil, about 30 grams, has cancer in her lungs and shoulder. She did the 30 grams and had a C-scan and the tumors had shrunk over 50%, she now gets her oil from my friend in NorCal and is progressing nicely.
I know that is a lot of info that probably did not answer your question, but that is what I do.
I am a believer that every person over 60 should take a maintenance dose of FECO daily for general wellness.

It was from Barneys Farm Triple Cheese, dried but not cured.
I am looking for other Indica's that will give me heavy yields of oil. I have also begun pressing Rosin so looking for heavy yield strains there/

Fantastic @gr865 - thanks so much for all of that. I know at some point I need to start extracting CCO in some way. It’s great to hear such success stories and about how people maintain their supply etc.

I wanted to drop something here that I just posted in my lounge. It’s not about oil making as such but it is the kind of story that might help people’s confidece in going forward with cannabis therapies if they land on this thread as part of the first steps to cannabis oil and medical use.

So I mentioned that the med-trip to the big smoke was good,

I went to see a new specialist, a rheumatologist. I found him myself , through online research, and then my GP found out that he’s very well respected and a ‘leader in the field’.

Very early in the conversation he said to me: “So you’ll already know that there’s no treatment as such [for my particular condition] and that the main things we need to do for people with this is joint support, pain management, sleep assistance and carefully seek out appropriate exercises (with a skilled person trained in the condition). How are you managing pain and sleep?”

Jeez, getting to it right away! I thought  I already liked his general atmosphere, personable and both strong and gentle, so I just jumped right in and said; “well, in the interests of full disclosure right upfront, I am using cannabis for both of those things.” He said: “Oh great! Well, you’re already doing absolutely the best thing you could be doing for it. How do you take it?”

:yahoo:

I told him I was making infused oils myself ... “Okay. Well then, you’re also doing it in the best way you possibly could” he said, smiling at me.

:yahoo::yahoo:

So I told him that I was also growing it myself and was now able to blend to different ratios of THC and CBD and we got into a whole discussion about how they work, both in general and for me in particular, and that was very interesting. Turns out he is a Licensed Prescriber and he put on my file in the appropriate spot that I am “accessing own supply” and finding it very helpful.

:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

So I think that means I’m officially a prescribed patient :eek::high-five:

It’s still illegal for me to grow it of course, and even to possess an unlicensed supply. But there are policies of “compassionate supply” and “medical necessity” that come in to play in recent legal cases (in my state in particular) so this is huge for me. It also means that when the law does change and folks can grow their own medical supply (which will be the first way it happens - like Canada quite possibly), then I will be right there already.

I can’t describe how relaxed I am as result. Also because he was so great as a doctor as well. He’s the first I’ve seen in person who knew about some of the details and nuances of the condition I have. I absolutely envisioned him in advance to be helpful and knowledgeable, I picked him because he seemed so, but I realised that I’d been nervous about the “asshole factor” when I ad a sense of relief as part of my response to the whole appointment.

So a double whammy! He was a good doc, great even, and a licenced medicinal cannabis prescriber. A triple whammy indeed becasue I got to spend 4 nights and 3 days and 4 mornings gazing at the ocean. And a little bonus is that i’m responding really well to my new 1:1 CBD:THC ratio and the impact of the travelling has been less severe. We’re also better at managing it the way we need to, but I am feeling the benefits of the 1:1 very clearly. The difference in effect of THC in that mix is really interesting, powerful but not psychoactive. Still titrating up, response to the first increase was very positive so I’m looking forward to the next one.
:morenutes:

Meanwhile - it’s the weekend so I fully indulge in THC for fun. :ganjamon:

Oh and the Doc also openly said that the products he has access to prescribe me (the synthetic ones and the isolates) are totally inferior to what I am able to make myself. “They’re just ruining it trying to break it all apart” he said... He is totally in the good zone of medical understanding. Towards the end he said to me gain: “You’re absolutley doing the best thing you could be for yourself and doing it in the best possible way.” I’ve really done well!
:circle-of-love:

:Namaste:

If you were in L.A. I have a 12" tall Candida in a 1 gallon you can have!
I don’t imagine I’ll be in LA anytime soon, but maybe next time we get together for sure. I’d like to try that girl out.
So it's just a different summer grow than you expected!
Haha very true, but I got a couple plants out of ground now and into the sun. I think we can still get a plant grown before summer is over :thumb:

What's the job of the Endocannabinoid System?

Hello SweetSue
Very interesting stuff. Dropped your name on a post today hoping to garner your attention.

Hello Maritimer. You caught my attention. :laughtwo: I’m just finishing a month of acclimating to my new home and neighbors, so if it’s a post other than this one you’ll have to help me out with a point in the right direction. :battingeyelashes:

My mistake not being more clear. I dont know my way around the forum so I will just paste link Exceptionally High FECO Yields
Putting this out without fear of being incorrect because I am not sure of what might be actually going on. Making third batch of FECO noticed huge return developing during vaporization of grain alcohol solvent. Ended up with 16 grams of medicine from 100 Grams of GG#4 flowers.
When I grew the Gorilla plants, I followed Dr. Kaplans drought stress experiment in the 7th week of flower that was part of a grow journal here on 420. The journal was incomplete due to my surgery but outlines attaining 50 degrees of leaf wilt angle during late flower. This stress causes the plants to overproduce THC and CBD. We need the smart folks to see this thread.
Did the application of drought stress induced beginning the 7th week of flower account for the drastic improvement in yield? This could be a huge reduction in the costs of FECO treatment if indeed this stress produces that much more medicine.
Medicine is not flammable, very sticky, very sedative, but due to costs not laboratory tested . UG
All thoughts are welcome

I like the way you think, and I’ll be back after a good night’s sleep to look into this more closely.

I’ve theroized for years that there might be a point in maturity when it’d be more productive to stress the plants. The challenges were what kind of stress and when to apply it. It makes perfect sense to me that it could be water deprivation in flower. :slide: I remember hearing some professional growers commenting on the increase in potency and oil production from plants that were grown in areas that had water challenges.

Week 7 you say? That makes sense too. Lighting would be maxed out for the grow, and THC production in particular is driven by the increased light exposure at late flower lumens.

I want to see what the others chip in, and I’ll go and read your post first thing tomorrow, while I have my first cup of coffee. :nomo:

I share your excitement. We’ll see what we can do about getting the word out.

@neikodog, you sprang to mind as I read Maritimer’s post. I felt compelled to call you in.

That is something I need to look into more but I can say I have noticed this on my 3 year old cut of bubba hash. ACE seeds recommends extending the drought period and that it likes dry conditions. The last few runs I have held off on watering that girl until the pot was very light, like if I waited another hour she would wilt. These last few runs have been the best I've had with her too. I do believe the right kind of stress is beneficial, like exercise is stress that is good for our bodies. I don't believe continual stress is good for the plant just like constantly being stressed isn't good for our bodies. It's just determining what is good stress and what is bad stress.

So right off the bat we have confirmation that we’re on to something.

Hmmm.... I have a trip to Washington to get behind me, but I think this may call for another focus group. Let me back up and see what Maritimer posted elsewhere.

I just did a batch of Gummy's @ 44 mg/gummy, I am doing two in the morning and two in the evening. I gave some to a lady friend who's cancer is in remission and doing a daily maintenance dose. She says it is much easier to administer than using an oral syringe.

Sue, I hope you don't mind me posting this here.

It is time to stop the madness!
Over 20 veterans commit suicide a day. PTSD is taking it's toll. There are alternatives to Opioid's people!
Please watch this, and remember it's not only veterans but anyone who suffers a major trauma in their life can be effected by PTSD and it may be years after the event. Our fathers and mothers who fought in WWII never talked about the horrors they had seen, many of them also had PTSD but they did not call it that then, it was called "Combat Fatigue". Alcohol was the medicine of choice for them! Vietnam also, many of us who served during that era still suffer. Many of my vet friends and family who served in Nam have a very hard time talking about it. I am sure you have some also.
