N.C. - Two teenagers were charged Wednesday with possessing marijuana on the campus of Davidson County Community College.

Campus resource officers were conducting a routine patrol of the parking lot when they observed a white Chevy Lumina with three individuals inside in the north overflow parking lot on the Interstate 85 Business Loop side of campus, according to a press release from the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.

When the deputies approached, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the release said.

Deputies allege the driver of the vehicle, Anthony Leevern McIntyre, 19, of 306 W. Second St., had five individually packaged bags of marijuana, and Raven Lamae Rucker, 19, of 235 Arrington Drive, a passenger in the vehicle, had a single bag of marijuana.

McIntyre was arrested for possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond. He will appear Feb. 25 in Lexington District Court.

Rucker was cited for simple possession of marijuana and released.

News outlets sensationalize whatever they can when it comes to something they don't like. Just like an indoor grow being a "cannabis factory." Would you call a cornfield a "corn factory" or a forest a "wood factory?" Just because it has a roof, lights, and a hydroponic system doesn't make it a factory. By that definition, every livestock barn in the world with lights and a water hydrant qualifies as a "meat factory."
