Texas: Man Arrested On Drug Charge After Traffic Stop

San Angelo - A Fort Stockton man was arrested on a drug charge after county officials stopped him for speeding.

At 6:47 p.m., Saturday, Tom Green County deputies stopped a vehicle at the 200 block of South U.S. 67 for speeding, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Deputies allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle during the stop and discovered what later tested as a pound of marijuana on the center console, the release stated.

The driver, Adam Eli Herrera, 32, of Fort Stockton, was arrested and taken to the Tom Green County Jail where he was charged with possession of an item with unpaid controlled substance tax, according to the release, a third degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. Bail was set at $20,000.
