Increasing yield with defoliation indoors: What's it mean? How to do it?

This guys journal is what I've been reading kong... He has some explosive growth..

But in fairness the node spacing are so tight all those leaves where covering up new growing colas.. expose them to the light and they grow.. surly..

I do agree that I fuck around to much.

2 days ago I said don't visit the tent for 10 days. But I went and had a pluck instead..
..

@GanjaPreneur420 I don't particularly want clear tubs and I have covered them up with towels to block the lights out. No I do not want light in my res... same time. I got 3 tubs for a 5er at bnm.. we still in a budget

A) your setup ain’t his setup and your plants ain’t his plants. You don’t know what has happened or what he did differently in the meantime in between time and his were twice the size of yours and healthy and most importantly you don’t even have pistils yet let alone cola sites man you’re jumping way way further ahead than you actually are.

If my plants that were started a full 6 weeks after yours catch up completely, will you try my method?

Kong I'll try anything that gets my tent bushwhacked out..

In all fairness these plants didn't have the best start with the p.h problems ect. So I don't mind toying around abit. I'll be ordering new seeds and building a small box to start some new seeds off. Tell me what to use and when to use it and So long as it's within my budget I'll be happy too..
These plants arnt going to start growing at a normal rate though. I've already come to that conclusion and that's because they were so outta p.h from the beginning running a high 7ph for like a month or more.

New seeds new soil.. get root bound in small pots and build more root ball with bottom feeding graduating my pots untill I'm at my fabric pot size.. then the new ones will hit the res for flowering in the big tent.

I want a perpetual system. I'll need it. But again kong. I'm here to learn. And improve.

I do think the deflation was necessary but maybe not as extreme as I went. I think they going to be good though in all fairness

Soivejust been reading through this with the octopot.

The high performance method in particular..

Am I right in thinking that those levels are higher and higher lines... establish a root zone nice spread and keep the lvls as low as possible???. Starve the roots downwards then fill it right up so they can drink ten fold... I suppose that would make sense.

I guess I'll let these drink dry pretty much for a week or 2 then.
never let them drink dry in Octopots until the last week of harvest.

No no I won't let it run dry. I'll let it run down to about 1/4 of it capacity and fill back up to half way..

It does suggest to keep that water level down until the roots are established fully.. and they are growing lush.. the roots are smashing it to be fair. I see more development down in that res then I do on top

Well I took a little peek and this is how they are looking just before lights out. All growth has lifted up and lots of new shoots flying out. Buzzing

Some of the roots in the res are shooting off thier own roots aswell now so they 're really develpoing well..

Omg since I covered the box with the towel has maintained it self at 5.96 and the other 6.04 so they are close to each other.

All looking good and green

Honestly your plants are looking better than admittedly expected after that defoliation you did. Looks like if you wait it out you may have some biggies.:goodjob:

Thanks guys... the new growth is booming through and they just been through thier 2nd night period since the defoliation..the little fickly bits had inch stalks last night .. they shot thier heads right through with no dramas. I'm going to poke my head in in a second and see how they are

Well they are flying out.. not Evan going to lie. Buzzin.

Under the plant on the right we have one big shadow. No light getting through that canopy at alk once again. I just wish it would grow normal rate.in comparison though shes getting there just slowly.

I need them to get a bit higher still and im Getting really Impatient haha..

The branching canopy is lovely and flat though to be fair and it is really thick down there so I have no idea why growth ain't coming back to a normal rate..

The p.h is fine. Okay I've added some extra positive stress recently but that's not the root of my growth problems..

I think she'll grow massive when I flip her.

I've also just pulled the lights up about 5 inch. Make them stretch towards it the higher intensity I hope. What ever tips helps stretch let me know.

I may turn it to the 600 only with just blues on..surly that make them stretch up a bit lol

Looking good. Not as much like plucked chickens.

Haha yh they really did look abit naked didn't they.. But to be fair they are pushing out growth in all the right places... I think I'll be happy to flip them soon. I imagine they are going to stretch like fuck.. just get the light intensity down let them chill out and grow for 10 days or so and bam well switch wm

Sounds like a plan

I do feel they are slow to grow but then I have nothing to compare too.. I've looked at photos of plants around day 60veg and they don't seem much bigger..

I don't know really I guess. I feel that it's very slow that's all.. I feel the roots are doubling at a much quicker rate then the top.. how ever I also think that you are right @stoneotter.. very soon we will look more normal the normal

So here we are 3 days later...
From This before we plucked them

To this
20190115_165949.jpg

And now the recovery after nearly 3days is this
20190118_155909.jpg

There they are. To be fair. If I'm honest.. they still look a touch bushy too me.. but we have 7 days left before we either pluck them again or flip the switch.. I'm debating which really.

I think turning the light down has helped, they Evan look more relaxed.. and without so.much heat the humidity has built up higher.. it's surprising how much heat the red spec leds put out I mean with it on blues only the tent feels cold.. it's about 24°c so it's not cold but those few degrees make all the difference for sure..

The roots have gone nuts. Some have had roots come out of then and others have had hairs form..20190118_160251.jpg20190118_160221.jpg

I presume the hairs are for the oxygen intake higher up in the res...
.the growth is green and I know they want to throw out the feathers and blossom now. Somthing I feel is still holding them back though...I don't know maybe this is maybe the rate they will grow from now on. Maybe too much damage was done how ever I refuse to believe they cnt make a full recovery.. I've seen plants alot worse pull off a hell of a lot .

Few bonus pics...
