The Hermie Mystery: A Real Whodunnit

I grew 6 plants of 4 feminizes strains last indoor run. Either I’ve got someone else growing nearby or one of the girls grew a set. There was a light issue which lasted about two days but other than that there were no other stressors during the run.

The one RQS Sherbet plant has had 20 good looking seeds so far however I’ve only found 5 seeds in the 2 gelato plants, 2 seeds in the herrer’s and 1 in the single bubblegum.

Given the huge difference in the amount of seeds found on the sherbet does it stand to reason that it’s the culprit?

If so then everything else would be a cross with the sherbet being considered the male?

I’m not sure if the seeds will be all that stable and am not sure they will be fem or hermied.

Any thoughts or crazy theories on the mystery?

Sounds about right. Pollen doesn't travel very far with all those trichomes around to stick too.

The seeds would defiantly be worth looking at. If you could find no balls there wasn't many. Sounds like a stress hermie which should equate to female seeds.

I have never tried the Sherbert so I really have no idea about the high. The Bubble Gum should be the most stable of bunch. It might be easier to notice one pheno from another with it. There should be tons of variety in the rest. Which can be good. The Jack Herer and Gelato Og have so much genetics in them almost anything could happen. This doesn't mean any of them will be bad. Just lots more variety.

I would gauge everything by the buzz and potency of the parents. The biggest key is that you like the Sherbert.

@Jackalope never tried sherbet??? I’ve got seeds!! Lol

The sherbet grew really well and the buds were very dense and sticky so that’s good. I enjoy the feeling but it does tend to make me a bit jittery and anxious.

I think the Jack being crossed will be the nicest combo of it quells the jitters which jack Herrer does fo me.

The gelato cross should grow extremely well especially since the clones I took are at 7’6” outdoors and the moms yield was great. The smoke is solid and one pheno tastes like welch’s Grape juice.

The bubblegum gives an ok nighttime veg out feeling so who knows. To me it doesn’t taste remotely like bubblegum but whatever.

If you let a plant to far past harvest and it grows a nanner and pollinates itself....that would remove the male chromosome completely?

Kind of yes. Not sure about the chromosome thing but the seeds usually come out female.

Pushing females well past harvest time can induce them to put out male pods with pollen. When they do this it is because of stress and not hermie genetics. So the seeds come out all female. It is one of the ways female seeds were originally made. Not a very perfect process. That is why female seeds were so rare before the Silver mixes showed up. When that happened it totally changed things.

Sctanley007. Nice. It sounds like you really understand the highs of what you are growing and smoking. So many people just stop and good or bad. In hybrids like you now have knowing the effects is a big deal. Not all highs will mix the way we think or want them to but when they do great things happen.

Good luck with them. Oh and just in case you think I forgot that first statement. Heck yeah I'm interested LOL.
