~ Welcome to The Lab: Perpetual Experimentation ~

Welcome to The DIY Lab! The goal of The Lab is to test out scientific theories and Bro-Science Myths in cannabis growth to determine what factors really go into optimizing yields, from botany to ecology to chemistry and physics. We will dive deep to uncover the facts about growing. We will be doing comparison grows to Myth-Bust how important various grow techniques or additives can be. We will be creating our own strains crossing and breeding the main line up below!

Updates will be done weekly!

I recently started growing and have become fascinated with every aspect of the process. I'll be diving deep into the science behind cloning, vegging, flowering, curing and drying and more! Lets get onto the setup!

The Space:
- Outdoor Shed
- 1 Apollo Horticulture 2' x 4' x 5' Grow Tent (I'll be getting another eventually)
- 1 Mars Hydro 4' x 4' x 7' Grow Tent
- 1 Clone Cabinet 1.5' x 2.5' x 2'
- Room is Wrapped in Plastic Tarp and Sealed Up to prevent bugs and critters.

Grow Gear:
- 2 AC Infinity Inline Exhaust Fans With Digital Temp and Humidity Control
- 2 Mantis Horticulture 315W (2'x4') Ballast and Reflectors
- 2 Hortilux 4100k 315W CMH Bulbs
- 2 Feit LED 86W Draw Full Spectrum Boards
- 2 Feit LED 32W Draw Blurple/Full Spectrum Boards
- 1 Clone Dome

Grow Mediums:
- Fox Farm Ocean Forrest
- Rockwool
- Coco Coir
- Root Rioters
- Jiffy Starters
- Bubble/Fogponics Cloner (Eventually)

Cloning Hormones:
- Clonex (Gel)
- Dip n Grow (Liquid Concentrate)
- Root It (Powder)

The Victims of Experimentation (Strains):
- Vanilla Frosting (Humboldt Seeds Company)
- Santa Cruz Blue Dream (Dark Heart Nursery)
- Magic Mellon (Humboldt Seeds Company)
- Sunset Blvd (THC Design)
- Roze (THC Design)
- All Gas Og (Humboldt Seeds Company)
- Lemongrass (Humboldt Seeds Company)
- Romulan (Korean Thai x Mexican x Columbian x Afghani) (Romulan Genetics)
- Deluxe Sugar Cane (In House Genetics) ~~~~~ THIS WILL BE A PHENO HUNT

~~~ EXPERIMENT #1 ~~~
For the first experiment in The Lab, we will be testing various cloning methods with different mediums and cloning hormone solutions. Up first:
Experiment: Gel vs Power vs Liquid Concentrates for Cloning
Victim #1: Santa Cruz Blue Dream
Solutions: Clonex, Dip n Grow, Root it
Mediums: Rockwool cubes, coco coir, Root Rioters, Jiffy Starters, Soil
Environment: 2' x 4' x 5' Grow Tent
Variables: With Clone Dome for Experiment #1, ambient temp and humidity will be recorded.
More details to come!!
Good luck and happy growing!!
Very nice. I’m a big fan of personal tests and side by side grows.
What other tests are you dreaming about for the future?
Welcome aboard! We will leave no stone unturned for testing and comparisons. Only time and space are limiting factors!
Indeed, my plan is to have a control plant for comparison then one variable tweaked on each other plant. Flowers will be sent out for testing to get real data analysis. My buddy back from undergrad now works as a biochemist at a testing lab haha pretty convenient.
I admit I haven’t got pricing yet but a few hundred bucks to get real results each flower in my opinion is worth its own weight in gold. Arguably you save more in the long term if you prove some additives to not be worth it and stop using them
Thanks pennywise! The new babies are going through their normal pH and transplant day 1 shock still but that Romulan never drooped, could be coming out the gate swinging... we shall see
Found this publication and have given it just an abstract reading. Fascinating already as it is a review of already published papers through March 2019. Best publication I’ve seen so far that sums it all up.
