The Mega Crop Thread

Just want to jump in to say I recommend mixing your full veg nutes by the gallon (or 4L) and then diluting down for early growth stages. It's much easier to accurately measure 4.5g (or whatever they recommend for full strength for this version) and cut it with water than to work with hundredths of a gram.

Just dilute 4:1 (water to nutes) for the babies, then 3:1, 2:1, etc. as they grow. You can also skip some dilutions depending on how fast they grow.

I find that MC doesn't go bad mixed in a 1 gallon milk jug even if left for a couple of weeks or more. Just give it a quick shake before using.

good tip. i almost always mix 4L minimum as i work in metric. 2L is the smallest i will contemplate.

i aint ever used epsom salt..how do you use it whats it for?

can be used for calcium. it's simply added in with the feed.
edit: make that magnesium not calcium. see below.

also, for anyone lackin a scale, ½ tsp wieghs out to 3.5 grams of Mega Crop (mostly so far).
😉👍

measuring spoons can vary between them. once you get used to a particular set it's ok. it applies to baking as much as growing lol

i have noted that so far anything thats just cal/mag is labeled 2-0-0. (newbie notes 😉)

there are some 1-0-0 products. there's something newer claiming 0-0-0, but it's a different source, and i'm not familiar.

for the amount of n it adds a few ml in a nute mix isn't going to tip things much.

For me, MC has been low in Mg from the start, and their latest version version is really out of whack with the Ca/Mg ratio. Epsom salt bumps the Mg (and sulfur) to help balance the two.

will have to remember that with the new stuff. i've been using a part dose of calmag almost from the beginning in the old stuff and will probably continue the practice.

is low magnesium what causes the crispy white leaves? its not as prevalent as it was since switching to the MC. most the new growth is coming out green, less lime, not so much crispy anymore.
the autos are 6 weeks, the photos are 5 weeks.

ive been enjoying your thread and cake @bluter and i might have to try a swempy grow after these guys finish. no harm in trying everything at least once right 😉
eventually i plan to attempt one those buckets that have the hole and tube water thing going on..i dont remember what theyre called, its like almost hydro without all the equipment.

hempy is pretty much the same thing only easier and cheaper to set up. it operates on the same principles.

the advantage to sips is they will run a little smoother than a hempy. they are a very easy run.

hempy grows are very similar to coco. they also run easy. the other advantage to hempy is the footprint. 5L buckets in hempy produce the same as 5gal in hp promix or other "soil".

it's actually a micro style. it's intended to be used with 2L buckets. the first hempys were grown in cut off pop bottles.

what did you notice that prompted using the epsom? i'm wondering if i can get by with the calmag alone.

How much Epsom salt do you use ? Do you also use gal mag or just the salt ?
Just basic cheap epsom salt, and you can see the recent formula I did for Granny420 here:

With just those two products, here is how I would feed my plants per gallon:

Full Veg:
MC v4: 4.2g
Epsom Salts: 0.7g

For those who like the details, that works out to 122-24-129, Ca: 82, Mg: 34, S: 46

Stretch:
MC v4: 4.5g
Epsom Salts: 0.8g

That's 131-26-138, Ca: 89, Mg: 38, S: 51

Full flower to harvest:
MC v4: 5.3g
Epsom Salts: 1.0g

That's 154-31-163, Ca: 105, Mg: 46, S: 62
If I was going to tweak MC I would lower the Ca and raise the Mg, since their ratio is out of whack and the Ca runs a bit hot in these formulas.

I use 2 ml cal/mag and 1 gram Epsom salt per gallon, don't grow Hempy, grow coco/perlite DTW. Still works the same on the plants.

I do have a scale and no I don't insist on using that paper. The pic above I posted was from the Greenleaf website. See again here. I'm.not sure why you say " if I insist on using that paper " I have actually shredded it this morning.
