Tight buds and weight

I was thinking about changing it up to coco or dwc for my next one, but I already have a ton of soil mixed. Mine is a Frankensoil as Emilya would call it. I got the original recipe “amounts” from Cali Green, but changed up the brands some. It has some coco and peat in it too.

I haven’t gotten a total weight but I got 1.5-2 gallons worth per plant on the last run with this soil.

I used URB primarily with this last grow, and now I have a couple of clones from the original plants going, but this time I not using it. They claim it makes the buds sweeter, so I want to find out. That stuffs too expensive to buy and it be BS.
have you grown many straight coco or coco/perlite grows before? my grows are coco/perlite 80%/20% mostly in fabric pots

Never, I didn’t know anything about it at first. I Bought a bunch of stuff thinking I was going to grow organic, then I met Emilya. She explained the “true” organic way (nonLOS) and convinced me to try organic the first round. I was wanting to anyways, but she “pushed me over the edge”. I had the FF trio, and some other stuff that I never ended up using. Straight URB, compost teas, and molasses/seaweed/kelp.

It honestly seems like the easy way to go. I think if I had known what I was doing, I would have yielded a lot more, but don’t think I did bad for a (real) first timer.

Basically 1.5-2 gallon jars per plant and I had some major problems after flip.

I had a 4’x6’ SCROG and got a massive invasion of mites. Almost gave up, but Intheshed convinced me to pull the SCROG and take action. Lol. It Sucked!

I really want to see what they can do without all the issues I had before. I have 5 clones from the Afghan and the AK (didn’t really want to grow them again). No topping. I want to see how big the Afghan main bud can get. It’s in my sig.

I’m about to drop 5 or so strains, so I’m considering different grow options. I have a lot of good soil cooking right now, so I may stick with soil again this round.
DWC has me curious for sure though.
Maybe I need to read up in coco. My wife already hates how much I have to water

Any suggestions from below?

before i switched from soil to full coco i used various mixes of coco with soil and other amendments with some small success, it wasnt until i went full blown coco grows i started to see the weight difference, of course its a big learning curve switching from soil to coco, especially if you are using reverse osmosis water & the associated Cal/Mag issues resulting, bit easier with tap water since it usually contains the essential minerals etc, but once you get on top of coco there's no looking back imo, pH & ppm play such a big part in coco growing, ive never grown any of the pictured packs though heard good things about Black Domina & Bruce Banner...good luck with it there!

*if you are first timer then you have a bright future ahead of you, took me years to get to the standard you are at now!

Might take a look at this company and its product, then:

Vulx is a soil amendment comprised of naturally occurring volcanic minerals which have been milled, mixed, and activated through a proprietary process and shown to:
  • Reduce water requirements by 50%
  • Provide 40-50% nutrient savings
  • Increase yield by 10-40% (10-20% is readily attainable, 40% is usually achieved by dedicated, experienced cultivators)
There are also secondary benefits as well:
  • Buffer soil pH
  • Loosen soil structure
  • Increase soil buffer capacity
  • Increase mycelium production in living fungal soils

Thank you for the compliment.
Yeah, that was my first grow attempt. I was pretty impressed myself.
Went from, Im just going to try a couple clones outside, to full blown 5x8 room. Lol!
I swear it happen over night.

From my 3 years experience the most important is maintaining your plant super healthy! With a decent light you can get what you re dreaming for if you manage to keep everything healthy from the straight beginning until harvest. Even with the best lights ever you won't get a good yield if the plant didn't have an entire healthy life

If you don't mind me asking what yield did you achieve and how many watts did you use?

I don’t know specific weights but roughly 1.5-2 full mason jars per plant.

2- 1500 watt. 300w something at the wall and the 2- 4’ in the sides are 320w.

They haven't quite figured out how to get it to work in ProMix HP (it didn't work for me at two different strengths), but I hear it works well in soil.
Hey I followed that experiment. Maybe Em got somewhere with it.

I just peeked and I have a pair of autoflowering strain seeds with tiny little rootlets emerging! I'll have to wait until "tomorrow" (daytime) to get them in containers, though, as I can't see where my supplies are at in the dark (no light in there).

Looks like my experiment will commence pretty soon. Have decided that I'll definitely be growing a "single" in soil, too. Since we're both expecting the result of the experiment to be, "No improvement in a pure perlite environment," I want to get in on the "improvement" game one way or another, lol.

Were can I get good genetics in Canada
I have heard that Dr. GreenThumb in Canada has excellent genetics. I have purchased seeds but have not planted them yet. I have heard really good things about their quality.
