Trala’s Tent

Sounds like an old hps light. I converted from them to led. They are good but running costs and heat are big issue. I grew for decades on them and took a while to believe led could keep up without costing the earth. Shops are businesses first sadly.
Good morning G! :)

I don’t know what it was Tbh.

I bought a Mars Hydo TS 1000 and tent in a twofor deal on eBay and it was $400, so cost effective, I’m really happy with it, though with hindsight I would have got a bigger tent which I guess would mean a bigger light.

I haven’t had a power bill, so I’m not sure how it will effect it.

You have had such a successful crop! Do you wait between grows or get straight back into it?

I haven’t had a power bill, so I’m not sure how it will effect it.

Here we go it's math day every day.

Your light is 150w power draw.
Run at 18hrs a day that's 2700w or 2.7kwh.
Average electricity price in Australia is 0.33 dollars per kWh.
So 0.33X2.7 is 0.891 dollars per day :)

Hi peeps :)

I‘m looking for advice.

I‘m mentally preparing for the flip, and I have a problem. When setting up, I stupidly set my lights to run from 7pm-1pm, so I could water, tie down, clean up, poke and prod when I finished work - which coincidentally I learned is the EXACT the time you are meant to leave them alone - so embarrassing.

So my question, I want my 12 hour light period to be 6am-6pm which means I have to tweek somewhere. Do you think if I start delaying turning my lights by an hour each day for the next 10 days which would bring me closer to that 6am light on, I could play a bit of catch up without causing further damage?

And side note, you do all realise if I have any success, it will be 100% thanks to you guys?! Wrong soil, night terrorising, over watering, nutrient starving, uppotting while still tied to pot, the list goes on :D:D:D

Just make the change in one go when you flip when your lights go out at 1pm set the timer so they don't come back on until 6am.
Some people actually like an extended dark period at the change to flower, it's like a clear signal to the plants to get flowering :thumb:

Really?

It’s that easy?

Yes its that easy,
I like it :)

Hey I’m not sure about watering/nutrients going forward because of my odd soil mix. Because I have uppotted, I’m not used to the dry weight which is how I gauged the other pots. Should I still be aiming for the approx 4 daily watering or due to the cray cray coco addition do they need more moisture?

And exactly how often do I use my shoddy nutrients? They cost me over $100 so I really need to use them up. And should I keep using the Root Roid once per week?

I‘m pleased to report my girls are looking MUCH better!

Thank you @Emilya Goddess of Green :green_heart:

While they’re not 100% fit, they’re definitely not as jaundiced.

One more question. Well two actually. I’m unsure when to start my watering regime and how often to used my dodgy nutrient. Dude said water/nutrient every day, I mean like water one day, nutrients the next during the week then root Roids on Sunday. Since joining this forum I have adopted your water recommendations, but given I’m growing in an undesirable soil mix, I am hoping you can recommend the best water plan of attack.

Hope you’re having a good day :)

Feed 2x strength every other watering... on the water only session make sure to pH adjust to 6.3. I would give the roots stuff every other plain watering session. This schedule should have you feeding around twice a week and giving the roots stuff once a week.

Tsl is a good light and tent is ideal for getting them off the ground too. Just space to worry about bit that's sorted with 2 going outside and then other 2 maybe indoor ?. The usage is 300w at the socket per hour. They are very efficient compared to many on the market. The staysbon theblight are approx 1.2grams per watt of power at the socket so roughly 400g possible from it in good conditions. All good.lol

I usually have seeds ready and popping as I finish up and last crop had them growing as seedlings towards the end of the flowering autos. They dont need lots of light to get going so it saves running costs too. I harmte down time usually and only have it if there is an issue to deal with like the inspections ect. I try to plan well enough to keep thing just on the right side of harvests. Doesnt always go to plan though and I had to shut down twice and put them into a cupboard while I went abroad for 10 days. Lol I lived on 429 the whole time away and managed to find a dealer to keep me in mediocre weed. Lol. Sad doper.lol.
Be happy :green_heart:

Oops was thinking the Tsl2000 like one. Doh , sorry T.

And we love helping T. Sounds like you have a plan and are thinking on the right path but consider the red hot days and cooler nights now and you could avoid some heat issues by going opposite. Night time lights on , daytime lights off. Will help with heat if it is getting hot there. Your doing great T . Following Emilyas soil advice will keep you well in the green too. You have this dont worry.

One nutrient, one plain water and one root Roids every week.

Thank you very much for your advice. I really appriecate it.

P.s. I don’t understand pH. But I will read up on it.

Hi G

Days aren’t hot here, we have hit winter. Temps very similar to my tent ie 20-24 degrees. I love giving them natural sun where I can. The reason I would prefer daylight lights on is I have that outdoor option sun option. The tent is in my garage, I have an old besser block house which means downstairs usually sits around 18-20 degrees in winter, it’s warm down there in winter and cool in summer, so not so much of a temp change.

They are loving it outside. I put those spongy kids squares in front of the pots to stop the pots overheating.

The plants who get voted outside when we sit for Tribal Council may feel the cold though. I am even contemplating bringing them in at night. Our temps can drop as low as 7 degrees at night. So they will freeze.

My next grow I will use completely different soil, well not completely, just no coco.

And thanks :) I am loving the process.

Well, it took me a little while but I'm here and all caught up. Very entertaining read, TraLa! You have a way with words :laugh:

And wow, what a following you have here, too! No wonder the girls are looking so good!

Very well done, TraLa. I'm excited to see how things go!

Oh, and 24 Celsius isn't hot? In Scotland that's as hot as it usually gets and I'm sweating! Doubt I'd last down under. Although I'd love to hold some of your crazy spiders and snakes

Hi there :)

I have definitely had some hick ups.

My next attempt will hopefully be better.

38 Celsius is considered hot here.

Sunday Summary

Week 7

The jaundice of my plants leaves seems better. While they don’t look to be brimming wth good health, I think they look okay. Mental note, never use coco again.

My plants are still short and wide (which is never a description a lady wants). They seem very immature compared to the plants of the same age in here. But on the upside they are 4 girls, you can already see roots in the bottom of their larger pots, so I guess they can’t be too unhappy.
