Transplanting after 12/12 switch

I am growing in a cabinet with limited space. I have 8 plants in 1 gallon square containers of which only one has shown me preflower pistols. I want to transplant the females to 3 gallon buckets as I find males to pull from the grow cabinet to make room for the 3 gallon buckets. Right now I don't have any room for 3 gallon containers in the cabinet.

Can transplanting be done 1 week after the 12/12 light duration switch? It would only be a week to 10 days before I see balls on the males.

Sure you can. Avoid transplanting after the switch, the plants will stretch during the first few weeks in bloom and need to grow out their roots. Transplanting after 12/12 may cause unwanted stress to the root zone. Stress recovery during flowering stage will cost some yield since energy are used towards that instead of bud site production.
