When i transplant to a bigger pot 5G, do i open the roots as I'm transplanting or just place them in the new soil as usual ?

I do not disturb my roots. I have read of a few who do... I believe it stunts for a day or so... the plant will find it's way into the new soil on it's own. Roots are constantly looking for new paths.
I do however like to use a spray bottle ph adjusted to 6.5 and spray the inside of the new medium and the outside of the root ball prior to transplant. Roots hate coming into contact with dry material.

You can break up the root ball if you want but it will shock the plants and I doubt it would give any benefit.
