Yes, there are legal dispensaries which required a state ID (any state will do) and you have to be 21 or older. If you are 18 and over with a health department issued medical card or doctors recommendation you can also enter.

There are legal facilities, and then there are "black market" facilities. It is really hard to tell the difference, so the BCC, who is the state regulator of retail/dispensaries has a website called www.CApotcheck.com which will lead you directly to the BCC website where you can search to find facilities in your area, and check whether or not the facility is licensed to operate.

• A lot of "black market" dispensaries are still open but are not legal. This means that most likely the product they sell is not tested for pesticides or any contaminants so you never know what you are getting. These businesses generally do not pay taxes, do not follow any regulations but also sometimes are cheaper. Again since they aren't regulated technically they are illegal and have been getting raided a lot lately. Don't get caught in one when it gets raided....
• The legal dispenaries are all required to have all products tested through a very stringent set of lab tests which test for potency, terpenes, microbials, heavy metals, pesticides, mycotoxins, residual solvents and foreign contaminants. Prices generally will be higher because of the high taxes that cannabis businesses have to pay to the state, counties and cities.
