Turn up the pressure on the L. A. County D. A. and City Attorney!

Thought everyone in the medical cannabis community should know about this, just in case similar goings-on are planned for Shasta County.
On Thursday, October 9th, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steven Cooley told reporters that "about 100%" of the medical cannabis dispensing collectives in Los Angeles County are illegal.

D. A. Cooley said he intends to close every one of them.

The D. A. made these outrageous comments after a training luncheon hosted by the California Narcotics Officers Association (CNOA). The CNOA luncheon focused on training police officers and prosecutors to "eradicate" medical cannabis facilities.

Help us send a message to L. A. County D. A. Cooley and L. A. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich. Tell them that medical cannabis collectives are legal under California law. Patients depend on them for safe access to medicine!

Tell the D. A. and City Attorney to abandon their adversarial posture. They need to join the Los Angeles City Council in supporting sensible regulations for medical cannabis dispensing collectives.

ASA:Online Action Center

ASA has been working with Los Angeles City Council members since 2005 to develop guidelines. Our research and experience on the ground show that regulations reduce crime and complaints. Unfortunately, the D. A. and City Attorney have rejected guidance from the City Council and the California Attorney General.

Their plans to "eradicate" medical cannabis in Los Angeles ignore the law and place patients' access in jeopardy.

ASA needs your help to turn up the pressure. Help us support L. A. City Councilmembers who remain committed to regulations.

In order to accomplish this, we are prioritizing our work in Los Angeles, which includes dispatching ASA staff to counter this staunch opposition to the implementation of state law. Can you help us with this new campaign by making a special contribution to ASA today?

Remember, this is not just about Los Angeles. We cannot afford to let law enforcement use this as an excuse to roll back safe access in California or other states!

I also want to invite everyone in the Los Angeles area to attend a very special LA-ASA Meeting on Saturday, October 17, to prepare for the campaign and the anticipated law enforcement actions. The meeting will be at 1:00 PM at the Patient ID Center located at 460 S. San Vicente Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Thank you for helping ASA fight back in Los Angeles!

Sincerely, Sanjeev Bery
