Two separate incidents Saturday night resulted in the confiscation of a
large number of growing marijuana plants and the arrest of two individuals.

The first involved the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office and the California
Department of Fish and Game. At about 3:30 p.m. the Sheriff's Office was
contacted by Fish and Game officers who had located an indoor marijuana
operation in the China Creek area of southern Humboldt County. Fish and
Game had been in the area doing a follow-up investigation on a diesel spill
that occurred last year.

The Humboldt County Drug Enforcement Unit responded.

Deputies obtained a search warrant.

At a residence on the 7000 block of Crooked Prairie Road, officers reported
they seized 254 growing marijuana plants, ranging in size from 18 to 36 inches.

They were in a grade adjacent to the residence occupied by Margaret
McGinley, 53. Deputies seized approximately $9,000 in cash from the
residence, as well as a 15 kw generator that was being used to power the
indoor marijuana farm.

McKinley was arrested on suspicion of cultivation and possession of
marijuana for sale.

The second incident occurred around midnight Saturday. The Sheriff's Office
and the California Highway Patrol responded to the 700 block of Redwood
Street in Garberville after receiving reports of a large juvenile part.

Officers found about 40 juveniles inside and around the residences.
Officers observed numerous beer cans lying in the street and made contact
with several juveniles who had been drinking.

While checking the area for other juveniles, officers located some growing
marijuana plants inside a garage next to a residence.

The Drug Enforcement Unit was contacted.

Investigators contacted the occupant, Timothy Crenshaw, 22, who consented
to a search of his home and garage.

Officers seized 171 growing marijuana plants, 2 to 4 feet in height and
almost ready for harvest.

Crenshaw was arrested at the scene on suspicion of contributing to the
delinquency of minors, cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale.
