Two cannabis farms worth an estimated £400,000 were found in raids at addresses in Speke this morning.

A total of 99 plants were seized after officers carried out drug warrants at two addresses in Damwood Road and East Damwood Road.

Police estimate the two cannabis farms to have an annual yield of around £400,000. The scene has been secured and police remain in attendance.

Local Policing Inspector Andy Wignall said: "We have seized cannabis plants this morning which would have been bound for sale on the streets of Merseyside and further afield.

"Our officers have shut down two cannabis farms, the proceeds of which would have lined the pockets of criminals.

"The results showed what could be achieved when the public share information with the police about drugs in their communities.

"Cannabis farms are often wired very dangerously and they can cause house fires.
