A mid-morning raid by police uncovered a cannabis factory in Cambridgeshire with drugs valued at £250,000 after a tip-off.

The latest raid of a cannabis factory comes as police target drugs lords in a bid to smash associated crime including human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

Officers swooped on the home this morning and discovered rooms which contained about 480 young plants with a potential future yield of up to £250,000.

The News has been inside the factory with police.

Acting on intelligence, officers entered the two-story detached house in Oakroyd Crescent, Wisbech at about 10.30am.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

A force spokesman said: "We're committed to tackling the production and supply of illegal drugs and we would urge members of the public to be vigilant to unusual or suspicious activity and call police with any information."

Cannabis factories on this scale are linked to modern-day slavery, as drugs king-pins traffic men to turn them into 'gardeners' and make them live in squalid conditions to grow the plants.

Officers also mounted raids on three suspected cannabis factories in South Cambridgeshire.
