are as patriotic as
apple pie and sex
its American as ringin'
in the new year
in the middle of times square
while drinkin' a beer
with a breeze in your hair
and a blunt in your hand
theres weed smoke on the lips
of every woman and man
we live under the flag
with the stars and the stripes
in a country full of bags,
cigars, papers and pipes
we see it in our movies

smokers smokin' everything
from pinners to bongs
all the laws against weed
the jail time and the fines
are fueled by greed
but there was never a time
when we as a people
didnt smoke our herbs
even before cars
paved roads and curbs
we smoked through the world wars
and the hiroshima bomb
we smoked that good shit
in Vietnam
we smoked the good green
in the middle east
marijuanas always been
a symbol of peace
from the shores of the Atlantic
to the beaches of the Pacific
theres millions of smokers
and each is a terrific
and they all have one thing
in common with me
its that they all smoked
the great ganja tree
