Unknown Strain - First Grow LED

I started my very first grow recently inside 2 40 gallon rubbermaid totes and am just experimenting and learning. I'm mostly just looking to go through the grow and take any advice I can for my next try. Any Advice is really appreciated.

37 days from seed
Indoor/Ocean Forest soil
300w(100x3) LED
75 Degrees & 70% RH
Just started grow big (50%)

When I first came here I had some issues with one plant, that ended up being under-watering, As I had a batch of plants I had overwatered and tossed a month before. Wasn't quite used to the watering in smart pots.

Corrected myself and started 1/4 strength feedings with grow big and these photos are only 1/2 weeks after the last. (A pretty big difference)

I did a little training in the last photos, but these were taken today after a little LST with tie wire just to shorten them because they are starting to get to tall for my box. (Which I need to address really shortly)

Think I see it starting to sex? Bad photo but there is a tiny hair coming out of the other side.

Looks good you using fox farm full line up? I just found my old old recipe when I used fox farm if you would like it.

Thanks Dutty! I'm just using grow big at the moment but I see there is the trio by fox farms sold at my local store, if that's what you're talking about.

And absolutely, Ill take any advice/info I can get.

I have a question for you guys, I am thinking I see some pistils starting but not sure. Would vegging on 24/0 (Like I have been, due to cold temps) slow down the maturing? I mean I should be seeing them any day now right?

I'll post my old fox farm feeding schedule in a bit.

I used grow big
Tiger bloom
Big bloom

Open sesame
Beastie bloomz
Cha ching.

Grow big in veg with added open sesame week before switch to bloom.

I'll post exact ratios per 5 gallon bucket of water.
I fed every other watering

Dan, Strykr here ya go.

1/4 cup grow big per 5 gallons of Water check ph

Used that every third feeding in veg till last week of veg then added 1 teaspoon of open sesame

First week of bloom I used 1 teaspoon of open sesame and 2 of beastie bloomz also used 1/4 cup tiger and 1/4 cup big bloom in the 5 gallon ph'd to 6.8

After week two of bloom I no longer use open sesame. Week 4 I substitute in Cha ching at 2 teaspoons and beastie still at 2 teaspoons

Run till week 8 and flush appropriately.

Each strain varied a Lil according to my old notes.

you need to flip 12/12 for them to sex, and if you dont have a lot of room id flip soon as they could double or go 3 times their size for the stretch

Good point nutty.


You can determine Sex in 24 veg though just keep a trained eye. Look for a pistil. I determine always without flipping over. It will show Sex quicker flipping to 12/12

I just got a free 4'x2'x6'H 2 door armoire I am gonna switch to once I get it up tonight. Will give me some room to veg out a bit and debating scrogging it.

Once I get this built I am going to switch to 12/12 because the ambient temperature is getting warm enough

Little update, started 12/12 cycle and haven't seen much stretch until today I see it a little. Cold temps have slowed me down a bit since these are in my unheated basement where temps are in the low 60's and dipping into the 50's some nights... :/

So now that it has dropped down into the 50s in my garage with this terrible weather, I am wondering if I should chance it and just bring them inside my closet until it warms up.

Will these temps with the lights off ruin them?

I realize there won't be a ton of interest in a general, run of the mill learning experience but I am going to try to continue posting updates weekly. Even if I don't get a ton of feedback this will allow me to look back at my first grow and what advice I did get!

So here I am, didn't take exact dates but looking at day 57. Flipped them to 12/12 a week ago and they are starting to stretch noticeably. I am still running veg nutes but switching once I get paid and have a minute to stop at the store.

They are both females!

Thanks guys! So I took the advice and cleared out some of the useless leaves that were getting close to no light.

Got a bunch of room underneath for watering now, where as before it was king of a hassle because it was so thick.

-Few photo's of what I took off and how it looks now. (In one of the pictures it shows a big branch that had been broken when I tried to LST in veg messed up, didn't chop it last night)

Call me crazy, it might have occurred whether I lollipopped the plant or not but I am seeing a ton of pistils on the plant in just one day when I didn't have many at all just a day ago.

I'll just attribute it to removing the extra leaves below.

Wanted to go ahead and post a few pics of the pistils that have appeared out of nowhere the last few days. Might try and pull some branches here and there to get more light through and also take the 3 hour trip home and grab my extra 300w LED to get some extra light for flowering.

Also took a pic of one of the nugs I got off of the same strain my buddy got in his closet with his 400w HPS setup.
