Unknown Strain - First Grow LED

You would think I would have learned when I first started this thread, but I think I have been underwatering this whole time :X

These fabric pots dry out so quick...

It's better than overwatering.... to a point :)

Hey Grizz, thanks for keeping an eye on my thread! Is it mainly strain dependent how much stretch you get in flower? My plants have been on 12/12 for 2-3 weeks and they seem to have quit stretching, stretching I think only 6 inches or so. It's an indica strain but I feel like its still very short?

Yes strain dependant... I think you could have gone up in pot size..your in soil aren't you? Should flower in 7gal pots+ really for soil... It'll be all good though. Yeah starch should stop around now. You can defoliate if you choose at around day 21 as well... Check some threads if you go down this path. KingJohnC is good to ask advice on this method.

How's she looking Stryka? Did you get your 300w? Hope all is well... Peace

Hey grizz, I am doing pretty well thanks!

I did get my extra 300w led, so I have 600w of led I am using.

I have been waiting a bit in between the pics so there is a noticle diff and not just spamming pics, gonna take some tonight or in the morning though!

I kinda wanna swap what hours I am using light and using my dark cycle in, originally I kept my lights on at night to keep temps up but now I dont need it. Would it do any damage to skip a light cycle so I can have my night cycle at night?

Yeah it could hurt them, hermi them... There would be a power savings with lights on at night...I wouldn't do it,that's not to say it can't be done but dangerous during flowering...

Well I've got some bad news, Checked out the plants today and both of them hermi'd.... Only explanation I can think of would be the stress from underwatering the few times or the swings in temps I was trying to deal with this harsh winter in the basement, temps dipping into 50's in the growroom occasionally.

Gonna post some pics anyhow and show you guys, what would be my best bet at this point? Cut off the balls and continue flowering? Don't really wanna waste more electric for a bad yield.

I am not finding a ton of balls, I have found maybe 6 throughout both plants, but maybe I need to take another look. Kinda bummed, but it is my first grow with just bagseed. Gonna put in an order soon for some Incredible bulks and try a few heavyweight fast and vasts also.

Reguardless of the outcome I learned quite a bit this run.

You sure it's a ball and not a calyx?

So, if it truly did hermie and you only see the occasional pollen sack or nanner, you can just pluck them or cut them off. Just want to make sure you stay on top so those sacks don't open and pollinate your plant as well.

One thing to remember with bag seed is that it is most likely a hermie itself, as the only way to get seeds in your bag is either by a hermied plant or a pollinated female. The latter does not smoke well and most growers would tend to avoid budding out females that have been pollinated. So by growing bag seed you already carry that genetic trait. It might not have been anything that you did specifically.

Maybe I was so tired I made something out of nothing, quite possibly just swollen calyx, like suggested. Got a few more pics today and am starting to see some resin build on my leaves.

I'm wondering if I should adjust the height of my lights, I have them inches above some of the colas, temp is perfect though.

Also, I will get what I get, but would it totally wrong for me to think I might get 2 ounces out of these 2 plants?

You'll get 6 ounces plus... Thought about taking some of the stem fans off? Allow a little more light in.. Looking nice... That's good it was just as swollen calyx... Those leaves are dark?

Hey guys, thanks for the responses as always! My lights are a cheap brand $120 for 300w (100x3w) so there weren't instructions for the height of the lights. I did lift them about 6" from the top colas. The lights seem to be performing well I think? running only 300w most of the grow.

Grizz, would the purpose of taking some of those other fan leaves be to get the bud itself some light? does that matter if the bud itself gets light as opposed to the fan leaves?

Also, assuming when you say 6 ounces (if you weren't kidding lol) that would be wet weight and maybe 2-3 ounces cured?

Waiting to see some explosive growth here i the next few days and see the bud sites start to grow a bit. Slowly starting to connect to each other.

It's weird, I topped one plant once and didn't top the other to experiment on my first grow, the untopped almost seems to have more bud growing.

Looking good mate.. Id be just trying to get more light onto the flowers. The stem fans kinda done their job once stretch is over, having built the structure of your plant. See how well they grow with light, flowers are the same. Leave the leaves on the flowers only the larger fans on the stems. On the tops I'd only take the topside fan off keeping one attached... If you don't feel comfortable doing that, tuck and fold them together to allow more light on flowers.. Don't worry about your grow weight, it'll be what it ends up. You'll have buds to smoke. Keep you expectations low and be pleasantly surprised or vice versa, lol... But my early guess is 3 dried ounces per plant. Anythings possible. I could be under :)...... Yeah that's right or vice versa

Just looking at your photos now.. A little gentle lst will help, open them up a little. Light is key. It looks like you have the room. Just a little garden wire twist mid branch and attach at lip of pot or if not wide enough next pot ( this way is issue if moving plants to flush or any other reason.

I couldn't keep my temps below 84 Degrees upstairs with this heat and i'm seeing more and more issues arise. I have lower leaves dying still (only 1 or 2 at a time per plant, top leaves are fine)...they just start to hang lower and lower then die and dry up....

Also seeing orange pistils on a few of my very top flowers, assuming it is heat related... Just hitting 4 weeks into flowering

So I shut off all my lights and brought my plants downstairs in complete darkness so my neighbors didnt see me walking down the stairs with them and on of my top, developed stems broke and is hanging. Broke about 3 inches off.... Awesome:thumb:

So besides the little issues, I got my plants downstairs to my garage grow closet and my temps are stable at 75 and hopefully the better environment helps a bit...
