Using vaporizer leftovers for cannabutter

I have about an ounce of stuff that was burned twice in my favorite volcano vape... Has anyone made cannabutter with this stuff before? Is it better to use the crockpot method or just throw it into a saucepan at low heat for an hour or so? Any culinary advice would be greatly appreciated..
