Volksball's Critically Purple Ride On The Red Dragon, 2020

40% might be a bit low for this early in flower, but if that's what you've got you can roll with it.

Another option is a bowl of water with a towel mounded in it, with a fan pointing directly at the towel!
Ah! Good idea. I'll get that going tonight. Saves me buying a new humidifier for what will end up being 3 weeks of usage, before we don't want anymore!

Hey...

The stretch seems to be on. New Hortilux bulb in.

All girls fed on Friday. They all started with 2g of plain water to clean things down below, seeing thay one started showing issues. Run off started at 1100ppm and finished at 700.

The one that's still showing a bit of issues got 5g of feed with no CalMg. I'll see if it clears it up. Not spreading quickly, so I think I'll get a handle on it. Not a great time for it, but there's always one...

The rest were fed 5.5g after their plain water feed and are still quite happy. So far. Trying to avoid any lockout issues in flower.

Canopy sees about 26-27c/46%/45k lux during the day and 20c/54% at night. Wet towel and wet pots helped get the RH up without buying a new humidifier. Win.

Before they get too tall, I'll dim down to 75% and expedite the demise of my new bulb, but save the tops of my precious plants. Still have to manage the giant girls. Supercroppijg seems to be the the option to go with to bring them down to level.

To that point, I think given the price of bulbs, hydro and issues with heat/headroom, this may be my last HID grow. Will explore the LED options.

Looking good in there VB!

Once you have to switch to the new bulb, they will be even taller, so supercropping when stretch is finished seems like it would be the prudent approach to save your tops!
Will explore the LED options.
We have a lot of great LED sponsors these days. :thumb:

Hey...

First, sorry about the pictures colors. I lose track of time often and forget to get to them before sunup. #potheadstruggles

They're stretching well and pistils have developed. I actually love this phase almost most. The button-noses are always such a nice look in the tent.

Speaking of tent and nice looks, ill never be accused of having an even canopy on this grow. The one girl is tall. She seems happy, so who am I to bug her?

The one plant that had some issues with Cal/Mg has settled in 5mg of MC with an 8ml or full dose of CalMag and is seemingly happy. The rest are settled at 5.5mg and 3ml and also seem to be happy.

I'm going to avoid rotating the pots anymore as they're just too big to be moving around and could get damaged. They are who they are now.

The light has been reduced to 75% and the plants are reaching for the lux. A bit more everyday. The middle of the tent is getting about 45k and the outer edges around 20k. It seemed to work on the last grow, so I'll run with it.

V

Hey,

Again, sorry about the picture colors.

So about three weeks or so from flip and things seem to be moving along well. Happy plants. I tell my wife that everytime i go to check on them, I feel like I'm waking into a plant party. Everyone seems so happy in there. I know that might be like talking about a no-hitter in the 6th inning, but...

The tallest girl seems to still be happy and her stretch doesn't seem to be as dramatic as her pre-flower stretch. The rest didn't seem to stretch so much either. Not sure why, but they didn't. They're only getting about 35-40k lux, whereas the tall stalks get 55k. The lux may be the issue with less stretch, but lowering the light wasn't really an option. I raised them up some, but only as far as I could.

I'm sure they'll grow up a bit further and hopefully fatter, but so far, so good, I think.

Hey...

Coming along well in the tent. Got alot of yo yos in already. 33 days from flip and they are getting heavy. The CPK is already showing hues of purple in some leaves and the stack is on.

Humidity around 40% and temps dropping too.

I can't seem to figure out how to get more than 40k lux to some because the tall girls are already close enough. The shorter ones aren't so tall, but fattening up. I'll be fine with the harvest on these. Even if short, they'll get fat, it seems.

Hey folks,

Been a while. I've gotta say, that there hasn't been much to say, which is a good thjng. Things are just going along well and maybe because I know more, I'm nipping issues in the, ehm, bud...

I flushed out the pots on Thursday to make sure that the roots are taking up everything they can for the home stretch. About a month ot less until chop. They took 3gal of fresh water before feeding 3gal. PPMs started at 1300ish and ended at 700 with feed..

..and here comes the purple in the CPKs!

Good morning, friends...

The quiet grow continues and looks to be taking this good run to the finish line.

The girls are fading out and alot of purple coming into the CPKs. I'd imagine no more than 7-10 days left before they lose their heads. All trichs are still clear.

For record, I kept the CalMg going for all four. 3/4 take 3ml while the last takes 8ml.

2/4 topped out at 5.5g of MC, while the other two took 5g.

That formula was basically it from flip.

The one thing I never tried this grow, but likely will on the next is something I read about playing music for the plants 24/7. The good energy some music cteates helps plant growth. It relates to that popular study where one plant was called beautiful, while the other ugly and overtime, one thrived while the other wilted. It's even thought that Taylor Swift's music affects plants best- it may kill me, however ;)

Day 134/66F

Thanks,
V

Love the frost and the bulk on those babies! The leaves are curling up at the edges so there's a bit of light damage happening, but whether you bother raising them this late in the game is up to you.

Don't they ever get some sleep? :cheesygrinsmiley:
Thanks, Shed..

Yeah, I saw that. Not too worried about the light at this point. Seems to have started as soon as the leaves started fading out. Figuring they're holding less water and are less
less resilient to heat. Not that I have any science to back that, but it justifies my inaction. Everyone else seems happy. I have no more room to raise the light and the rest of the ladies are shorter, so they won't like to be even further. If there was one issue this grow, and not a small one, it was the one plant that snapped at the yolk, went grow-crazy after that, making it taller than the rest.

Sleep!? They'll sleep when they're dead! Ha...
