Volksball's Second Waltz With The White Widow, 2019

When would you introduce a light breeze?
I run a big 16" fan in my room from day 1. Obviously, not blasting on them, but enough to move some air.

I'd think you should be fine as long as it's not pointed directly at them on full blast. LoL

Lowest setting, and positioned to move air "passively", I'd say you're good to go now.

You're gonna have lids off/on over the next few days anyhow....

Perfect. Thx!

Mind if I grab a seat V?

I’ve got a widow going rn myself under a 4ft 6 bulb t5, once in solos & in the tent, I used the 2bulb feature then added as required. actually only full six bulbs since last night, low outdoor temps helped me mitigate heat issues, but I was just pulling bulbs as needed.....
you don’t have to run max bulbs, run with how ever many you need ! Was about 1.5C temp increase per bulb for me..... adds up quick

You can go closer then a foot for sure, but be nice, don’t rush it...... but they’ll like it:Namaste:

Looking forward to this, I enjoyed your last journal :thumb:

Hey! Thanks for the tips. Always good to have more eyes. Welcome!

Yeah, I had all four bulbs on last night (on account of the taller skinnier one) with the slightly tinted domes on. Woke up today to happy plants. A bit curly in cotyledons and a bit soggier than I'd like in the soil, so domes off for a bit. Will go back to two bulbs when the cups are off tonight for daytime.

Had the heat at 27c/80f from 9" with all four on, so with the help of some fans, I should be able to get closer when they get stronger.

I'm still pretty new at this, so feel free to jump in at anytime to stop me from murdering my plants. Ha!

Nice we got young ones starting at the same time. Let’s do this. :hookah:
Let's do this indeed! I try to time it through the winter months to keep me busy through the Canadian cold season.

I've seen a range of opinions on this one: I've got my tent running at about 75%RH. I know the risks of high humidity and heat, but can it work as good around 50%? Or should I wait until they grow their first true leaves fully before coming down?

Thx.
V

A little stretchy? She liked the light from the hop.

Hey growers,

The girls seem to be coming up well and happy. A bit stretchy on a couple, so I had to build up some soil around them and lower the lights a bit. Maintaining temps around 28c and humidity between 55-65%.

Not using a mister anymore and have moved to a very light circle of water around the stem. Starting to let the cups dry out a bit more.

Two clip fans are now on the girls from a couple feet of distance. The girls tremble ever so slightly, telling me it's not too much stress.

All four lights are on and have been since yesterday. They are 7" above the tallest girl. Humidity domes are off permanently now. I just didnt like what that tint was doing to them. They seem happier this way.

Please let me know if you see/read anything concerning.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Good morning, friends.

Day 10 from sowing seed.

The girls seem to be happy. Some growing faster, or differently than others. Rotated them in the pot holder to access the different intensities that the fixture has to offer.

You'll notice that some have grown their second sets of leaves faster than the rest, and some stretched taller. I'm assuming this is a phenotype thing, but I rotated anyway, as the ones with the nicer/bigger secondary leaves, were on the outsides of the light fixture. Maybe too much light intensity in the middle? I raised the light up an inch in case.

They got a good watering today with some run off, which should be good for at least three or four days. I built the soil up around a couple that looked like they might like the added support.

Have a look!

Thanks,
V

Good evening guys,

The girls are growing at a pretty great pace, but at a wide range of rates and shapes. Some tall and wide, others short and fat and a just a slow poke. The first thing I though is that they may be of different strains? I was told they're all WW. I don't remember this so much from the first grow.

Also, I got my MegaCrop. The girls are at about 11 days since they busted soil. When would you start adding the MC?

Will likely pot up to 2gal pots this coming week.

Have a look. Thx!

Here's another from a different angle to add onto my last post and to offer a different perspective on the girls. Raised up the lights a couple inches to 7" to accommodate for the tall ones on the ends. Far left was showing a bit if heat stress, as she is growing, well, like a weed. Far right, who is of similar size, seems fine with the distance. Started investigating wind burn, but the fans are on low and causing little more than a dance from the tall ones. No sway or violent movements.

Thanks,
V

Sorry I'm late VB! Taking me a long time to get caught up after surgery :(.

Plants look great! I don't use domes on my sprouts and not sure why you would need to at 75% RH, which may be a tad high for veg but not a big problem. I certainly wouldn't try to get to 50% until flower.

Not sure if it's in the budget, but a great purchase would be a lux meter. No more guessing about whether you hit the sweet spot for your plants. I got a Dr Meter LX1330B for just over $30 and it's great to have the info it gives. I'll bet a lot of growers are wasting money throwing more light at their plants then they can use!

Hey man. Dont apologize. Thanks for having a look when you're free to. Hope things are coming together after surgery.

Yeah, RH is around 60-65% now. And temps are steady at 26c/22c. You're saying that RH should never go lower than 50% until flower?

I actually have a lux meter and forgot to use it! You reccomended that one and I bought it. Oops! Will have to look at the optimal LUX for two week old seedlings. I was gonna hook up the HID light soon, but it may be overkill. I'm just wondering if my 2" T5 fixture will have a good enough light footprint for 5 plants after I pot them up to 2gals soon. A couple are getting big for their home.

Thanks again for weighing in, man.

Nah, just that vegging plants like a good amount of humidity, if you can provide it. In flower, lower RH will help keep the mold away.

LOL!
may be overkill
Definitely overkill at this stage. If the 2gals will fit under the T5's they should be good for a while longer. Once they get to look like real plants, boot up the HID!

Thanks for posting that. And yeah, will see what kind of light I can get em, once they pot up. Thx!

'Evening folks..

Potted the girls up to 2gal grow bags and tried then under the 2' T5 fixture. There just wasn't enough of a footprint, so under the big lights they went. Thanks to my lovely wife for flipping the tent over and getting her hands dirty. She is a patient woman.

Started feeding MegaCrop at 2.5g per gallon. The girls took 2 gallons, total. Little runoff.

Stabilizing the tent at 26c-ish and 65% RH. Lights are at 20" above the tallest and reading at 15000 lux. Cross my fingers timers are set right and the grow machine starts without a hitch.

Of the five plants, I'll keep four. It's a hard decision to know which one to give up, but if roots are the key, the pics might decide for me. One seemed to just lag. How do you decide?

Have a look! Sorry for the blurry and way too many shots. I'm a visual person. Root shots here. Tent shots in next post.
