Water on a schedule? Or water when needed?

I have 8 girls outside in the ground & it’s monsoon season here in southwest CO. it rains for a short amount of time each day, sometimes more than others. i’ve never had my plants on a watering schedule, only fed them when they look like they need it / slightly wilt. going into week 2 of flower, some of the plants take way longer to wilt. some plants’ soil seems much wetter after it rains, but some plants’ soil seems to remain dry.

bottom line- it’s getting hard to tell when they need to be fed. i’ve always found my plants thrive & yield more when i give them time between watering, until they start to wilt and leaves don’t feel full of water,

but sometimes the soil is bone dry, & the leaves seem full off water, maybe just absorbing the rain? i’m not sure.

any advice is appreciated!
