Weird bulges on stem

Had these huge bulges show up on one stem about a month ago — cut into some of the bulges expecting so see bug infestation or sign of disease but seemed fine. Month later, the plant is flowering and generally seems healthy but now another one has got the same thing. I’m wondering/hoping it’s just from getting whipped around in the wind rather than a pest issue, but the bulges definitely don’t look appealing. WTF could this be if it doesn’t appear to be hurting the plants?
