What is the true cause of foxtailing? Expert opinion olny please

Hey guys and gals! Ive been looking on this site for the right answer ut I've got about 3I don't know which answer is correct. Is foxtailing good or bad?

Foxtailing as in manicuring just a single main cola? or foxtailing @ the top of a nugg? Both are good-- as good as the grow/health of the plant... @least. Just remember we're hunting trichomes-- NOT foxes... Your best answer will come after all's trimmed, hung/dried, & cured.
My experience w/ foxtails lernt me dis-- WAIT N SEE... could be more bud a comin', could be done-- trichomes don't lie...

im talking about the top of the nugs. i just got a 100x microscope so ill definitely be watching the trichomes. will the foxtails swell up?

when looking through the microscope, I'll check a couple a spots per plant (top,mid,lower). if most of the plant shows the trichs you want-- then its ready to go, regardless of what the foxtails do... all bud should swell up, given enough time, just don't let the plant go too long looking @ 1 spot
