White Rhino & Exodus Cheese SOG Grow

Ok, so I took clones from my last grow to do a 24 plant SOG but the best laid plans didn't! I lost 12 of the 26 clones, I am thinking to damping off.
So now I have a small SOG of 12 plants, have them spread a bit so this may not be a true SOG but it is what it is.

Clones went into flower in the Folgers plastic can Hempy buckets on 1/11/16, so I am 18 days into 12/12. The grow so far has gone alright, just had to add a shelf as the EC is sativa dom and the WR is indica, but it seems to be working fine. I have just under 8 sqft in the cabinet with a 400W HPS, wish I had more light.

Just a few pics to show where I have been and where I am now. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sorry forgot to add this, day 23 of 12/12.

Just could not stop once I got started.

Day 35/week 5

All is sort of ok, lost my HPS, scared the fuck out of me. Walked into the garage and bam burnt wire. Panic mode, no fire/smoke so I opened the cabinet expecting the worse, NO PROBLEM. The digital ballast died so I pulled all the HPS stuff out of the cabinet and installed my 400 LED. Glad I did not sell it a few years back to a friend, but kept it just for this reason.

Plant are doing ok, growing and filling out slowly or I am just getting fucking anxious especially after the light died. I am going to finish these under the 400, grew some nice buds with it before. The only problem is the temperature, cabinet temps with the 400W HPS in cool tube was running 75 to 77, now under the 400 the temps are running 80 to 83. Nighttime temps are still running in the mid to high 60's.

This is my going to be this years Christmas card!

I just cleaned up the buckets from my last grow, 5 gallon coco/growstones, and in both buckets I had very little roots in the reservoir of the bucket. The growstone I used in the reservoir was loose and had very few roots in them.
I did not get the expected results from this last grow and now I am sure this was the reason. My question is what would cause this? I am sure my interface between the growstone and coco mix was good. I have not run into this before and if its something I need to fix I want to do so right away.
Now I am wondering if I am not having the same problem with this grow. I do not believe the plants are drinking enough and are not thickening up as I expected.
I need some advice please!

Well I believe I have found the problem, but not sure what caused it.
Taking a looking inside the drain hole of the bucket it if fucking ugly. Nasty looking roots, almost slimey. Also, while taking this pics I saw a number of gnates probably fungal since this is coco, a dozen or more in each flying around each bucket as I was draining them to put in fresh nutes. Have not had this problem before.
Any ideas, feeling like a nube not being able to figure this out.
I have three weeks flower left, is there any thing I can do?

UPDATE!

2/20/16
I was talking to a friend in Oregon about this and he said I should try, a combination of Dutch Masters Zone, Root Zone Conditioner and Cannazym. My G/F picked it up for me at the Hydro shop and I started the treatment Friday, I will be using it in every feeding till flush and harvest. Will be feeding at reduced rates till the root system strengthen or basically till harvest, which should be around the April 7th, but may carry them a bit longer due to this issue.
I could really use some help with this, making sure what I am doing is ok.
Also going to wait till the coco dries a bit more before water/nutes, being Hempy buckets I have never face this problem with coco.

I treated the buckets with powdered BTi in water and drinched (75 to 100% runoff). Hopefully that will take care of larva and the maggots hatched from them.
As far as the gnats flying around the buckets I read that neem oil will work to eliminate them. I had some a friend gave me a few yrs ago to treat aphids on my roses, so I gave it a try. I put the oil in a spray bottle with water and sprayed the surface of the coco, bam, as of this morning there are no gnats at all flying around the buckets. Yippy!

Lets see what transpires this week.

That looks like some nasty root rot and root rot = game over, see her out and see how she turns out i wouldnt splash out hundreds on nutes to tackle the problem not even worth it. do what you can for her and try to remove as much slim/bad roots as you can without hurting the plant any further I wish you goodluck fella sorry i couldnt really help!

Thanks 420S,

I have been using Dutch Masters Zone and Cannazym, also BTi for the FG maggots along with reduced nutes. I can see some new root growth when looking thru the drain hole of the Hempy buckets, not a lot but at least some.
I do appreciate the kind words my friend!

Harvesting:

First batch on 3/7
3 EC at the breeders recommended date of 56 days, 40g, Trichs about 60/40 cloudy/clear.
2 WR at one week prior to the breeders date of 63 days, 21g, Trichs 80+% clear. Looking for a little head high.

The second batch will be harvested on Monday day 63, I plan on harvesting at least two of the EC's and two more of the WR's.
Real drag about the fungal gnats, before they hit I was expecting somewhere between 6 and 8 zips and am now looking at around 4 + zips if this batch represents the total. A buddy of my who saw the grow before the gnats said he was guessing a little higher, after the infestation said he figured a 60 to 75% loss in yield.

Oh well, I lived to grow another time, can't wait to start again this fall.

Exodus Cheese 5 days drying time, headed for the jars for curing.

This is my final tally, total grow for the 2015/16 season - 321 grams, 11.5 zips. Not as bad as I was intisapating with the fungal gnat problem.

Next grow starts in late July early August, vertical screen grow!
