Is it true that if i put my plant's pot with drainage holes at the bottom, in a tub of water about 3 inches tall, and that it will suck up the water as needed on its own? a friend told me i could do this but i dont think it would work...if not are there any similar ways of watering a plant without actually having to water it?
EDIT: thoughts on the aqua orb?

I used this system for years. Used 7gal pots in "wallmart/cvs" stock totes that they leave outside all the time :)

I set 2 bricks on eachother the pot(s) on the bricks. Each system had an air stone.

Used just foxfarm/perlite combo.

Would water to about 3 inches above the holes (1/2"-1" from botom of pot)

Changed water once a week and they were happy as could be.

Left one for 3 weeks once while i was in jail. Came back and besides a tiny bit of light burn it was healthy. had just made it to the botom of the water..
EDIT: My gf says she did refill it once in that time tho. So i wouldn't go trying 3 weeks lol

Not gonna call it a wonder system or anything .
but it did the job.
If i ever have to leave a group of plants for a few days i will def use the system again.

I will dig through my old hdd's and see if i can find the pics. May take a few days lol 28TB's is hard to find shit in. :)
