Xlr8's Quest For The Best - 2012

What size airpot is that? the one that the jack the ripper was in?
Thanks

Hi Arizona - It's a 3 gallon equivilant "Air Pot #3". The beauty of Air Pots, is that you can grow a pretty large plant in a smallish container without root circling/root-bound conditions. The aeration results in a lot of lateral root branching and the roots make better use of the available space. This applies to fabric style "Smart Pots" as well.

A little trick I used, is to put a layer of hydroton balls on top. This does a few things - all positive. One, it discourages bugs by putting a dry barrier between the moist coir and the surface (the hydroton dries faster than the coir and is less appealing to bugs). It also helps limit watering "dents". Perhaps most importantly, it allows the coir to stay moist closer to the surface and the roots to develop higher up in the pot as a result, maximizing the root space in the pot.

Sorry it took a few days to get back to you!

Congratulations for your new status, xlr8 !!! It's not nessesary to refer that you earned that , by teaching people how to grow my friend !
A generous helper to every single grower, advanced or not ....
Thank you personally , for this !!

Life is getting very busy here, no time for browsing lately ... :(
I just got 2 more DS 300's panels 2-3 weeks ago , so I got 4 now in total. (1200w :yahoo:)
Unfortunately , as I had told you , I also got flo n gro system couple of months ago and that was a HUGE mistake my friend !!
Despite that, I'm trying to recover from that hit and get a god damned new f%#**g European system !!!
I feel so bad about this huge mistake of mine! ( due to not excessive research ) I'm ashamed ...

I Wish you luck to your new duties my friend , I'm sure you ll do great job

Hi Billy -

First thank you for the very kind words! I know you had some issues due to damage with the Flo N Gro - did those not get resolved? Was that why it was a huge mistake? I'm very happy with mine so far, and have used it for a few grows now - sorry to hear it hasn't worked out for you. What a bummer...

Congrats on the new lights buddy - cool! :high-five:

Sheez, somehow I missed a bunch of posts in this journal... Thanks so much Fish Cake, for the very kind words brother. :)

Thanks for the reply. I am loving the t5's so far. Explosive growth from my seedlings. Only feeding them vf11 and Jobe's organics now and again.

Using a 4 foot 4 bulb t5ho. Picked it up for $99 on ebay, free shipping.

T5's are definitely the bees knees for vegging smaller plants, seedlings or bonsai moms. Nice eB@y pickup! :high-five:

Ok I said it on your other journal so ill say it here also. Your an iconic grower. I stay focus because of growers like you. No to read what ive been missing :thumb:

A little late (sorry about that!) but, thanks brother!
:thanks:

Heh, there is something I couldn't know x, as I'm not electrician ! Of course , with a little further research I could find it as I did, but it's too late man, even for a return !!!

The *%# godamned problem comes from the HERTZ x !! I can easily adapt it in a 1500 watt transformer and make it work. Unfortunately , this cannot succefully be done in any US machine that implements a timer or something that it turns at specific numbers per a minute ! (a turntable etc) ... !! Those machines have been designed to operate at 60 hz !! If you put them to work at 50hz (europe), the timer loses about 10 minutes per an hour, as the hertzs represent the "time circle" !!! I also mailed Heath Oliver at titan, he was very quick responser indeed, but he didn't have anything to suggest :
I have done a bit of research on this issue for you and yes you are correct it will slow the clock down about ten seconds per minute. We as you know make these for the north American market. What you might be able to do is have the feeding schedule feed two hours after the lights come on and the two hours before the light go off feed again. Just a thought.
Thanks,

You have the option (from what I found so far) to run the transformer at 130 volts etc and you ll come close but never precise !! Also what if in the middle of the grow whith the plants at bloom, you burn the controler ? Or a pump? I got 3 pumps, but I really don't wanna "gamble" my first grow and being in the middle of it, without equipment !!!

Another option is to put it at eBay , but who is gonna get my sys, with a big hole in the box and two broken screw holes ? (the timer ON the bucket)

I'm trying to find this smiley that it gets red and hit its head on the wall !!!!! lol
If you have anything to suggest bro shoot it out , I'm really disappointed from that here , I now need 800 $ to get a new one, man !!!
Well, live and learn but that comes a bit expensive in my case.

Awww BUMMER!!! I never even would have thought of that... Damn! I wish they'd take it back for you at least - shoot. I hope you have smoother sailing from here on out brother...

:goodluck:

Even Heath Oliver, didn't know it x !!!! He researched it, too ....
Anyway , oh well .... What can I do ... Unacceptable mistake from my side and I ll pay for this.

Be good x

You are the main reason I purchased my t5ho 4 footer 4 bulbs for vegging 4 plants. It is working well so far. It keeps them very bushy, with lots of side branches reaching the top canaopy. Even my autos are super bushy, with no training.

Three of them are now in the tent, the critical under 400w hps, one auto under 300w led, and one auto under cfl hood.

The rest I am keeping under the t5 until mid april, then hopefully taking them outside.
